September 21, 201015 yr The Reds currently have 36 players on the roster, but can only carry 25 for the post-season. One of those 36 is Willie Bloomquist, who is ineligible for the post-season roster since he was not on the 40-man when August 31 rolled around. I was going to do my own breakdown, but here is a link that does a much better job than I would. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20100920/SPT04/9190363/1062/SPT/Reds-ponder-postseason-roster Thoughts? Personally, I think it looks pretty good.
September 21, 201015 yr Author Red is what? Clearly Red owns the playoff roster. Somewhere Clyde is just shaking his head.
September 21, 201015 yr They obviously don't need him, but you just can't help but feel bad that Harang likely won't be on the roster.
September 21, 201015 yr Author They obviously don't need him, but you just can't help but feel bad that Harang likely won't be on the roster. You're absolutely right. Has he even made a relief appearance yet? He could potentially be the long-relief guy, but in the playoffs I'd imagine Bailey and/or Wood would get the nod over Harang...
September 21, 201015 yr I wish I had the pull around BGP to edit my thread title. What do you have in mind my friend?
September 21, 201015 yr You're absolutely right. Has he even made a relief appearance yet? He could potentially be the long-relief guy, but in the playoffs I'd imagine Bailey and/or Wood would get the nod over Harang... He's never been a problem child, was one of the few bright spots on miserable teams, ate up a lot of innings, and did what was asked of him. Wheels kind of fell off the past few seasons. But they really just don't have a need or spot for him in the playoffs. Clearly Bailey/Wood (whichever isn't a starter) is the better option for long relief.
September 21, 201015 yr I think I'd rather see Alonso over Lance Nix (if healthy). 5 OF's is plenty and I think Alonso has looked rather well as a PH thus far.
September 21, 201015 yr Author He list 26 as probably. I didn't count, but thought that there were too many because he had Francisco "probably in" and I think he's "out."
September 21, 201015 yr He list 26 as probably. That's because Fay is a terrible writer, and excluded Janish from the list entirely when he first published the article....
September 21, 201015 yr I didn't count, but thought that there were too many because he had Francisco "probably in" and I think he's "out." Francisco out, Yonder in?
September 21, 201015 yr I'm interested to see what the Reds do with Edmonds in the postseason ... I still think their best lineup has an Edmonds/Gomes platoon in left field.
September 21, 201015 yr I know Edmonds has been suffering some injuries but I'd like to see him get more time in the postseason than he's gotten.
