It may not have been you, but these snide remarks about Zeke are getting old. Last year all the talk was about him being a year older, and this year it's about his recruitment. The kid went out, worked his butt off, and went to camps to get better. As a result, people are continually making sophomoric comments. If you want to debate about someone's talent, or what seems to be lack thereof, open a new thread. Best yet, give the kid a year to grow and mature. He's played a total of 3 games at qb at the varsity level, and only 3 years of qb period. Plus, it's not like he is on here, or in the media, boasting about his talents. This thread is about 2 teams going head-to-head Friday night, not if someone is a D1 talent.

Boone got killed. What happened to Conner first round in the playoffs? Exactly. Boone has beat 2 top team teams in ky thus far. Conner has beat a terrible Oldham County who is no where near as good as Dixie? I don't know where you got that from. And a confidence builder? Please. Conner will never do anything until they learn to get ready for 6A playoffs and play good teams.

Zeke pike has been intercepted SEVEN in THREE game, Quaterback Cy Smith has turned the ball over ONCE in THREE games. The Colonel's turnover margin will hurt them and i believe conner will add to Pike's SEVEN interceptions.

One turnover against teams like that isn't much to brag about. Dixie will when tomorrow night by ATLEAST 3 Tds and thats not because Dixie is that good. It's because Conner is used to bad teams with not near as good of athletes that Dixie has. Dixie beat Beechwood by a decent margin. Conner got KILLED in the scrimmage they played against Beechwood.

Yes Dixie has a few good athletes but even a good athletes out of condition does no good for the team,Dixie has never been great in the 2nd half. Conner wins 24-21

Killed in scrimage against Beechwood? What scrimage game did you watch? Conner ran 1 offensive scheme and 1 defensive scheme the whole game. Beechwood threw everything they had at Conner on both sides of the ball an still only scored 1 more varsity touchdown than Conner. Sounds like someone hasnt done their homework (or doesn't understand anything about football much less scouting).

Neither Boone or Conner should be bragging at this point of the season. They are both off to good starts, but let's see where they finish...that's what we will all remember, and last years conclusion wasn't spectacular for the Cougars or the Rebs.

Generally, Central KY is not considered a strong football area. Many years LexCath is good but they're down as well this year. HC has had some good years. I'm not sure how good they are yet as they seemed to be very giving to Boone in their game.

 

The point is that is that the jury is still out on Boone. We'll get a better feel in the next two weeks.

 

People who follow high school football know who Oldham County is and know they're a good program.

I predict that Dixie (Pike) will throw 30-35 times and he will be picked 3-5 times depending on how desperate they get late in the game. Wes Walters picked Pike 3 times at the Conner and Dixie 7 on 7 I was there. Here is what the reporter wrote about the finial 7 on 7

- Defensively I was very impressed with what the Cougars have. Again their linebacking corp was on the smaller side weight wise, but they have good speed at the position. Logan Kremer, son of former UK linebacker Jeff Kremer, looks really good after missing over a year of time with a detached hamstring. He's by far their thickest linebacker but he has good athleticism and speed as well. He had a lot of deflections and was good in coverage with an interception against CovCath. Kremer will be a senior.

 

- The other linebacker that stuck out to me was senior-to-be Wes Walters. Walters is on the thin-side for a linebacker but in coverage he moved like a defensive back. He had his hands on everything thrown in his vicinity. These linebackers really have great ball skills and with they way they drop in coverage I expect a lot of interceptions out of them.

 

On Conner’s DBs Jared Simpson, Michael Muller and Cameron Fogle

 

- As good as Simpson and Fogle were on offense, they were equally good if not better on defense. They each had an interception in the first scrimmage against Campbell County and may have had more that I missed in the other scrimmages as I was walking back and forth. One thing is for sure... A quarterback is taking a big risk if you throw the ball to a receiver that is covered by one of these two, because their hands and ball skills are really good for defensive backs. I also liked junior-to-be Jake Mullderink. He seemed to be in the right place more often than not and also had an interception against Lakota West.

I doubt he passes 35 times.

 

I also don't base anything off of 7-on-7s especially when it comes to picks. In a real game situation the qb will often dump it down or tuck and run.
