I also don't base anything off of 7-on-7s especially when it comes to picks. In a real game situation the qb will often dump it down or tuck and run.

 

I agree you can't read too much into 7 on 7's I am just pointing out some information about the two teams when they have actually been on the field together. I am sure Pike was trying to complete the passes when he threw them. My main point it that many beleive that Conner's defense is better then last year and I will be suprised if Dixie scores a lot. As good as Pike is you still have to worry about the 25 passes Conner doesnt intercept and Dixie's ability to run after the catch. They also have a decent running game so there are many ways they can attack. Conner has a good DL too so it should be a good fight with the talent Dixie has on offense this year.

IMO Dixie's biggest plays come off of broken plays. Pike can throw on the run. In addition, Bruns likes to cut back/reverse field when the run is stuffed. He had a huge run against NC on just that type of play.

I have not seen Conner but would expect this to be close with the edge going to the home team.

I was looking at play types which include plays where he is forced to run and does not throw. So I agree he will not throw 35 but I would expect more then 20 and I will stick with 3 interceptions by Conner. Only 21 hours to start to find out who is the better team.

Yes - Dematteo also has some attempts and I think Cohorn threw one last week as well.

Yes Dixie has a few good athletes but even a good athletes out of condition does no good for the team,Dixie has never been great in the 2nd half. Conner wins 24-21

 

You're sadly mistaken if you think Cohorn, Leonard, and Bruns are out of shape. We'll see how the db's at Conner handle Cohorn and Leonard. Those two are tough to cover and bring down after the catch. By the way, those three are in excellent shape.

I think Dixie will be very successful running the ball. The key will be if they can keep away from the big negative yardage plays. If they can keep from having those I think Conner will have a hard time stopping the Pike/Bruns combo of runners. If Dixie has to throw it over 30 times, it is not good news for the Colonels.

 

I agree that their top 3 receivers are very good, but the pass defense is somewhat suspect. If they are chucking it 30 times, it tells me that Conner is also having great success on the offensive side. My guess is that Dixie does not want a shoot out type of game. They would be much better served by a run based game that shortens the game, and keeps the defense off of the field as much as possible.

It may not have been you, but these snide remarks about Zeke are getting old. Last year all the talk was about him being a year older, and this year it's about his recruitment. The kid went out, worked his butt off, and went to camps to get better. As a result, people are continually making sophomoric comments. If you want to debate about someone's talent, or what seems to be lack thereof, open a new thread. Best yet, give the kid a year to grow and mature. He's played a total of 3 games at qb at the varsity level, and only 3 years of qb period. Plus, it's not like he is on here, or in the media, boasting about his talents.
