Guru, what do you mean by turn the corner? Are we talking about getting a win? Playing them close consistently? Winning half the games or more? I won't use the term messiah, but I will say Ballard can make 6A football MUCH more interesting if they are able to win half or nearly half of their games against T & X over the next few years. IF that happens, clearly the credit should go to Coach Jackson. It is his relentless commitment that keeps the program on track.

 

I would say win a third to half of the games against them would be turning the corner.

I have been a loud supporter of Coach Jackson, he's doing the right things. I do agree he's fighting a lot of things that he can't control. If he stays the course, he will win his fair share against us, I bet.

Jackson has done a good job, but i'd say Jeff Marksberry is closer to being the messiah. He has done a whole lot in a less than ideal situation.

 

Marksberry is a decent coach, but with shiny new facilities, a Mr. Football candidate at running back, and a sleeping giant of a program he's had a couple of good years. That's not really a messiah, and after Saturday it borders on a flash-in-the-pan. One way or another, the Dixie game will make a statement.

From my perspective, I always love traveling to both Trinity and St. Xavier because the powers that be at those schools roll out the green carpet for me and the posse. However, Ballard having some success against those schools is good for KY football.

Guru, believe me I know a lot of public school coaches/parents/students/fans and they would love to have a chance to play even with X/Rocks.

I just love seeing Centre College and eastern Ky boys making it in the big city, under the bright lights. Centre has turned out some mighty fine coaches. I don't know about Corbin . . .wasn't Mike a runnin' redhound?

Sure, but the way you worded the question, that would be the case for any coach in 6A. Any 6A coach who could consistently compete with and win against X and T with a 40% smaller male enrollment and restricted attendance boundaries of course would be considered a superman. To make the question more interesting, do you think Coach Jackson will be able to pull that off?

Smaller enrollment and restricted boundaries are self imposed by the Jefferson County powers that be. No one can blame T and X for public schools being their own worst enemy.
