He has derailed any attempted legislation to allow casinos or expanded gambling at KY horse tracks. Keeping in mind they are available in IN, WV, TN, MO and soon to be OH. He has also prevented this issue from being on a statewide ballot because his district is very religous, small and does not approve. So he's hurting the KY budget and probably our best known industry by standing in a way of an issue that most Kentuckians approve of.

 

So he zealously has represented the overwhelming desire of his particular district. Curse him . . .

So far we have some talking points but no real examples. If most here hate him because of the way he handled the gaming issue fine but I have to believe there is more to it then that. And to say he is the reason a budget never gets past is nothing more then a blame game.

 

How so? He offers zero in the way of solutions to Kentucky's financial issues; he just says no, and instructs the spineless GOP lackeys under him to do so as well. I realize the Democrats in Kentucky aren't exactly ideal, but at least they aren't one big lockstep group devoid of independent thought.

The problem is that he has, through his position as Senate President, a larger constituency than just the Bible-thumpers along the Tennessee border. By kowtowing to those people in his district rather than the whole state he is actively destroying our commonwealth's signature industry. To be fair, a lot of that blame can also fall upon the rest of the members of the GOP Senate who are afraid to challenge him.

I have had 20 years of issue after issue after issue with Mayor for life Abramson, some of them being personal. And political correctness is wrong when you always side with the minority and ignore what the majority want. GO WILLIAMS/FARMER!!!!

Not to pry into the personal issues, but what do you feel he's ignored that the majority wanted? I'm not on his guest list for anything, and I doubt anyone would be looking for me in the majority, so I think I may be out of touch. To me, he's been a pretty good Mayor For Life.

Let's just say that my son was a 10 year veteran of the Jefferson County Police Department and as soon as all of us that lived in the county were sold down the river and had merger crammed down our throats, your Mayor for Life did some things to him and many others on the department, that I will not discuss here. The new Metro Police Department is a complete joke thanks to Jerry. But at least Coleman and the rest of his troublemaking entourage were happy.

Not true. I do think that the firefighters got a raw deal in the merger. I do think that overall, from my perspective, he's done a good job. But I'm open to learning things I may not be aware of.

You said in your post #36 that you were 100% not voting for Williams. That doesn't leave much room to change your mind.

This will be the first time I've ever been against Richie Farmer in anything, but I will be against him in every way I possibly can in this case.

Based on this thread, if nothing else it should make for an interesting campaign.
