2010 Class 6A Preseason Rankings

Featured Replies

SK returns 8 starters on Defense and 6 starters on Offense all with talent!

They may have talent, but with the graduation of Miles Simpson and Jordan Hansel (both 1st team All-State), plus a lot more of your offensive linemen, Simon Kenton lost a GIGANTIC portion of its offense; and I don't see a Miles Simpson clone on your current roster. The absense of Simpson and the much weaker OL will make life much more difficult for your excellent QB, Chad Lawrence, when he wants to run or throw. No longer will defenses be stacked to stop the powerful and speedy Simpson, which last year allowed Lawrence a lot more stealthy freedom to operate.

By the way, you may also find this interesting that someone else has Simon Kenton ranked as the #10 6A team, with the same nine teams as BGP ranked above them:

Wait a second! These are the BGP rankings not the Alan60 rankings, right? What in the world did Trinity do other than get pasted in the title game last season to warrant the #1 spot?

Just study and observation PepRock01, just study and observation.

I see Trinity at number one, where is Highlands ranked?

I am not going to even show up this year for the X/T game because we have no hope of a victory.

They play Ryle and Henry Clay!

Ryle doesn't really matter as a big name yet. At this point their claim to fame is having been the state runner up in 06. Although to be fair, they have scored on Trinity before.

The biggest reason why I have issue with us being number 1 is the fact that we are primarily underclassmen and while we may be the top team by the end of the season, they are still young. Young teams, no matter how talented, are often inconsistent and that is the biggest reason why I don't feel that we deserve the top spot.

Besides our defense was thrashed by HHS in a scrimmage whereas St.X absolutely destroyed a talented Fern Creek team in their respective scrimmage.

You can tell the start of the season is here because fans of T and X are already sandbagging

Actually, the scrimmage with Fern Creek was MUCH CLOSER than the 41-10 score reported by some last week. Late in the varsity phase of the scrimmage, X only led by 13-10 and Fern Creek was driving. Daylen Hall intercepted a pass and returned 95 yards for a St. X. touchdown which gave them a little breathing room. McMurray then broke a long 70 yard run, which capped the varsity scoring at 27-10. In the JV phase, X scored twice, but no extra points were attempted, to beat the Creekers 12-0. We did not look that good.

Meanwhile, the diaper-clad Rocks, who all truly have "powers beyond those of mortal men", quickly blasted out to a 35-14 margin over a team which finished #3 in the nation last season, and then let the pedal off the metal, cruising home for the victory.

All I can say, Pep is :isurrender: :scared: :isurrender:!!

That is still a better performance than we had against a 5A team with 4A enrollment. Our defense is a huge question mark with our new D Coordinator so I still say the Tigers have the edge in the defense department.

Actually, Highlands enrollment is at the 3A level, meaning they are actually playing up two levels (but then again, all of Highlands male enrollment consists of future NFL stars).

In regards to defense, I agree that at this point X is better than T, but the Rocks have the horses to close this gap once they adjust to the new coach and scheme. Offensively, however, even with its youth, T is miles ahead of the Tigers, and I fear that this situation will only get worse as the youngins get more experience.

You must live down by Beargrass Creek with all the sandbags you are piling up.

If it gets any deeper in here, BP will be drilling another relief well.

Shhhh! We can't sandbag like you guys if you let the cat out of the bag.

Pep, The Scribe speaks with straight tongue. Although the Tigers do return some star players from last year, such as McMurray, Hall, Hayden, and Beach, there are some major areas of concern with the supporting cast. For the most part, St. X. will only go as far as their defense can take them.

Historically, Mike Glaser's strong teams have always had three elements in common: a powerful offensive line, outstanding run/pass threat at QB, and a dominant kicker/punter. Right now, none of these are present, and I'm not even sure they are hiding anywhere on the premises. :scared:

Based on the way you scored against POWERFUL Highlands at Highlands last week, I don't even see how our good defense can save us. Our only shot this season is if the Rocks don't show up. :notworthy:

Just my opinion but, because of Glaser's system relying on overpowering you with the run and passing as a gimmick, X has to have the talent edge on the line to be at least two touchdowns better than T (which they were last season) to win in the end. Just don't see much room for error in their approach to the game so if X can develop the powerful line advantage they had last year, I agree they may end up #1. Otherwise, as we saw in 2006-8, they won't beat T in the end.
