August 4, 201016 yr How does everyone see the SEC shaking out this season? What are you order of finish for both divisions, your league champion, Player of the year, Offensive and Defensive player of the year, Coach of the Year? Does anyone have any crazy other predictions? I'll post mine shortly.
August 4, 201016 yr EAST 1.Florida 2.South Carolina 3.Georgia 4a.Kentucky 4b.Tennessee (I can't put UK ahead of UT until I see them beat them with my own eyes) 6. Vanderbilt West I can't even predict and I think the west will come down to some crazy tie breaker with every team possibly in it except MS State (Their schedule is just too tough to really get in it) But potential Bama losses UF, @Arkansas, @LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn potential LSU losses- everygame they play with Les Miles as coach Arkansas-Ole Miss (Nutt will always be ready to play Arkansas) Bama, @UGA, LSU, @MS State Auburn, @Bama, @Ole Miss, LSU, @Ark Ole Miss- @Bama, @Arkansas, Auburn, @LSU I can just really see the west going crazy this year. There are a lot of depth but honestly I don't think the difference in first and 5th will be that much this season. Bama only returns 2 starters on D. Player of the Year-Ryan Mallet OF POY- Mallet Defensive POY- Jerrell Powe
August 4, 201016 yr Which is easier to replace...a defense or offense? Which is coach Saban's more experince side? We have eight guys plus backups on Offense. Our third running back is probaby our best back. The 4th quarter will be ours. Our D has very capable players, but young. As the season goes along they will improve. You better get us early.

Your #2 back is your best back and maybe the best back in the country IMO.

Bama will be better at the end of the season than the beginning no doubt, but so will a lot of teams. And Bama plays a tough schedule to open the season. With Penn State, @Ark, and Florida all in the first five games Bama could easily have a few losses going in to mid October.
August 4, 201016 yr Author I'll say: East 1. UF- Best talent on this side of the division 2. UGA- Easier schedule in conference than SC 3. SC- See above 4. UK- They will beat UT IMO. 5. UT- Add a tough schedule on top of all their other problems, they could maybe tie Vandy for worst in the conference IMO. 6. Vandy- They're Vandy. West 1. Bama- Best team in the conference. 2. Auburn- Malzahn's offense is going to be nasty. Chizik seems like a perfect fit. 3. LSU- Easy schedule but questionable QB play and coaching. They could land anywhere 1-6 and I wouldn't be shocked. 4. Arkansas- Tougher schedule than LSU, but they could land anywhere 2-6 I think. 5. Ole Miss- Nutt will get more out of the team than what's expected. 6. MSU- They will be improved, but this a murderous division. - I think UF beats Bama once, either in the regular season or in the SEC championship game. A motivated Urban Meyer is extremely tough to beat. - I think all 6 SEC West teams make a bowl. - I think Gus Malzahn will get a HC job after this season at a BCS conference program. Player of the Year- Ryan Mallett Offensive Player of the Year- Mark Ingram Defensive Player of the Year- Donta Hightower Coach of the Year- Gene Chizik
August 5, 201016 yr HT, you really think teams can stop us enough the whole game for us to lose to the Hogs (Mallet cannot play D)/LSU their D is weak/Gators at our place, they couldn't stop us last year...Ok lets see but 3 or 4 losses And Penn State they have a running back but oh heck I wish I'd just shut up.
August 5, 201016 yr West 1) Alabama 2) LSU 3) Auburn 4) Ole Miss 5) Arkansas 6) Miss. St. East 1) Florida 2) Georgia 3) Kentucky 4) South Carolina 5) Tennessee 6) Vanderbilt POY - Mark Ingram OPOY - Mark Ingram DPOY - Donta Hightower COY - Nick Saban

The only way Arkansas beats Bama is in a shootout first to 50 wins type game, but it could happen. Bama is still the hands down favorite. But the west is tight enough top to bottom that you could see a 3 way tie at the top at the same time. I would be shocked if Bama ran the table this season. They may only loose 1 game all year but someone will get them, I feel fairly certain about that. But it's easy this time of year to convince yourself of things and I have to convince myself Bama isn't invincible.

I don't see Bama losing 3 or 4, but I'd be shocked if they went undefeated this season. It's just too tough to repeat and go undefeated doing it. If the '02 Canes and last years Gators couldn't do it I don't see Alabama doing it either. They'll get everyone best shot this year, many times off a bye week, and they replace quite a bit. Saban is a heck of a coach (IMO tied for the best with Meyer) but being the hunted in the SEC is not an easy job. UF had an easy conference schedule and a non-existent OOC schedule last year and Tim Tebow and nearly slipped up a few times. I meant to say in my predictions that not only do I think that a SEC team will NOT win the title this season, I don't think an SEC team will be in the BCS championship. I'll be the first to step out on that ledge but I fully expect one of the SEC teams to catch Bama sleeping and then I also think UF will beat them once this year. I can't see Urban Meyer losing 3 (which would be 2 this year) in a row to anyone, even Nick Saban. I don't think any other SEC team is a legit contender for the Championship because I think 2-8 in the conference are all about even and will beat each other up.

My first impression is that college football will down all across the board this season. It could be another situation where a 2 loss SEC team gets a shot at the national title.... against Ohio State probably.
August 5, 201016 yr Author My first impression is that college football will down all across the board this season. It could be another situation where a 2 loss SEC team gets a shot at the national title.... against Ohio State probably. I think it's a weird year for college football but I don't know if I can agree that it's down. The SEC looks like a bunch of teams fighting for 2nd place to me but, alot of those teams are greatly improved from recent years. This should be the best Auburn and Arkansas teams in a few years, LSU should be much improved, South Carolina is picked as a legit threat to win the SEC East and I don't know how anyone could expect UF to fall off that far. Look at the Big 10, this is a year when they could be the best conference in America. This should be the best Ohio State team in a number of years, Iowa is as loaded as they've ever been, Wisconsin is a team no one is talking about but they return a boat-load of players. Oregon lost Masoli and is still expected to be pretty good, Oregon State should have their best team in a while if they find a QB (they always do). This is probably the best Nebraska has looked coming into a season since Eric Crouch was running the option for them. If anyone has a better combo of a QB & 2 RBs than Bama it's probably Virginia Tech and they should be in the thick of things this year I'd imagine. UNC is suppose to have one of the best defenses of the last 10 years with 6 or 7 guys who have been mentioned as possible first round or 2nd round guys. This should be the best Miami team since '02. Boise State is loaded. Oklahoma and Texas A&M should be much improved. Of course teams like Texas and USC seem kind of young but by the end of the season I think they'll be alright. I think it's going to be a really good year for college football.

Or it could just be that the SEC as a whole will be down this year with the exception of Alabama.
August 5, 201016 yr I agree with y'all on how hard it is to repeat or go undefeated in the SEC. We have done that in the regular season the past two years. The loss to the Gators two years ago was a very close game, and UTAH just out played us. Coach Saban has said "we play each game as if there are no more games behind this one". They practice hard for each game and do not look ahead. We will lose again, and maybe have a bad season to. Thats to be expected, but like I said if they don't get us early and give time for our "D" to grow up it might be a very good season for us. Hogs is our 4th game, if it was #2 I might be more worried. San Jose St/Penn St/Duke /Hogs Then the Gators, and I think we will be up for them. At USC and with Darth Visor you never know. I'd say that could be our loss. Ole Miss @ Vols we are not worried. @LSU always a hard game, we could lose and I wouldn't be surprised. MSU/ Georgia State/ and Auburn @ home will not be close. I'll state this again our running game will eat clock and control the ball. PKs/punting will be something to look at with new people doing it. Its hard to type with this new mouthpiece I'm breaking in. Mama says no sugar for you! Edited August 5, 201016 yr by Alabama Larry Spel mistake
August 5, 201016 yr I've gone back and forth on this for two days....both divisions are really tough to predict this year. So, I'm going out on a limb I guess...but here it is. West Bama LSU Auburn Arkansas Ole Miss Miss. St. East Florida UK UGA South Carolina UT Vandy MVP - Ingram Off POY - Mallet Def POY - Hightower COY - Joker I HONESTLY believe you could take 2 - 5 in both the East and West this year and put them in any order you want and I couldn't argue it. HT said he can't put UK above UT until he sees it with his own eyes...well, I've seen it in person and I believe it happens again this year. Of course my "COY" pick is contigent ONLY on the above divisional predictions coming true. If it flip flops around, I would see Saban getting it as i still think they could run the table again. 3 reg seasons in a row would seem nearly impossible, but my goodness they have some serious talent. I absolutely can't wait for the season to start. I told HT 6 months ago that UK has the easiest "on paper" SEC schedule that I've ever seen. UGA and Auburn at home (beat both on the road last year). USC light at home (I don't even wanna talk about that 2 pt. conversion play on the road last year). Vandy - well like CCC said, they are Vandy. Pretty nice home schedule. The road we all know very well...3 of the 4 conference road games are against teams picked behind us in the preseason. Our non conference schedule is very weak and I'm absolutely OK with that. Let's just do it now. Get it started. I wish it were Sept. 2nd.
