August 5, 201016 yr I don't remember Bush doing this himself, but there were a lot on the Right blaming 9/11 on Bill Clinton ... I'm not saying he's to blame, but Clinton did have a chance to bring in Bin Laden, and he didn't do it, so those claims aren't entirely baseless...
August 5, 201016 yr I'm no economist, but if the USA is financing (borrowing, paying interest on) the deficit, then is the cost of that financing considered "spending"? If so, then the size of the deficit matters.

If income is $10.00 and spending is $20.00, the deficit is $10.00. If income is $1,000,000,000 and spending is $1,000,000,010, the deficit is still $10.00. The same deficit, but a big difference in spending. Or look at it the other way, if income is $1,000,000,000 and spending is $1,000,000,000, the deficit is zero. If income is $600,000,000 and spending is still $1,000,000,000, the deficit is now $400,000,000. Same spending, different deficit. I repeat, the size of the deficit is not germane to a discussion of the size of the spending. Still laughing?Yes, I am. Know why? Use your head. If you will check the thread you will find that I have not offered a single comment on the level of spending during the current administration. I have merely poked a little fun at a triumphal presentation of a chart that you present as proof of spending increases, when in fact it is an unlabeled chart of a completely different matter. Then, to make it even more fun, one of your loyal supporters chimes in with a tongue in cheek comment about the unfairness of using charts to prove a point. That's really funny when the chart isn't germane to the matter under discussion. And then, to make it even more fun, the discussion turns to fashion statement glasses. I'm glad you're still laughing.
