But, back to the point of the discussion instead of my choice in eyewear fashion, the graph was posted by RTS in an attempt to answer a question about spending under President Obama. I merely pointed out that the graph was not germane to the discussion.

There is no way the side is including the spending on the wars, and I will be that the right does. To this point, outside of the stimulus there has been no exorbitant spending. dang it, I tried to cancel this and I tried to post with the chart copied and got it on neither one, sorry. It's from the Washington Post, ace. Not exactly a right-wing paper if that's what you and TA are getting at. They most certainly do include the spending on the wars. While Bush did fund the wars through emergency supplementals (not the regular budget process), that spending did not simply vanish. It is included in the numbers above. TA, since when doesn't the deficit have anything to do with spending? It's quite germane to the discussion whether you or ace like it or not.

If income is $10.00 and spending is $20.00, the deficit is $10.00. If income is $1,000,000,000 and spending is $1,000,000,010, the deficit is still $10.00. The same deficit, but a big difference in spending. Or look at it the other way, if income is $1,000,000,000 and spending is $1,000,000,000, the deficit is zero. If income is $600,000,000 and spending is still $1,000,000,000, the deficit is now $400,000,000. Same spending, different deficit. I repeat, the size of the deficit is not germane to a discussion of the size of the spending. Still laughing?

We all know revenue didn't drop by more then $1 trillion dollars but the deficit increased my more then $1 trillion. Simple math tells me spending increased.
