Sounds like we have the same book. I know for a fact that our book was written based (at least in part) on articles and records taken from old yearbooks.

Littleluck55, you are awesome! I just sent the seller an email asking him. It does sound like HHS only played 10 games, though.

As reprinted in our book, the 1958 Highlander does, in fact, say they went 10-0 and won the NKAC; however it doesn't recount the individual games, as it does in some other years. Then, in the back of our book (where every game score is listed) it shows the results of 11 games, just as Henry listed them. My suspicion is that one of the listed games was not an official game. Perhaps the Deer Park game was a scrimmage.

 

What we need is a 70-year-old ex-Bluebird football player. The co-captains that year were Gary Cochran, Doug Martin, Bill Waddell, Denny McAtee, and Bill Straub. I know (at least) one of those have left us, but maybe one of the others could solve the mystery for us.

 

Oh, a bit of ironic trivia: Hamilton Catholic's original name was...Trinity.

I appreciate all the help BGP'ers have given me on this! As an FYI I have now finalized my entire list of regular-season bowl games Highlands has played in (thanks also in part to Tates Creek HS and Montgomery County HS, which provided me with information about the Thoroughbred Bowl and Recreation Bowl, respectively).

 

You'll have to check out my upgraded Highlands website in a couple of weeks to see the whole listing, but I will share with you that Highlands has played a total of 35 such bowl games from 1950 though 2007, winning 21, losing 14 and tying none, for an overall winning percentage of 60%. In all, HHS has played against 28 different opponents in their various bowl appearances. Also, HHS has participated in 10 different bowls over the years.

You are correct... it was called the Holly Hill Gridiron Classic, and indeed HHS lost to Scott County 20-0.
