Mayfield very well could be #1. Beechwood with all the young talent they had last year should be right with MHS. Who knows about LCA this year. They lost tons of talent. But they also seem to reload each year! hum!! They also lost a great coach. So who knows... Everything depends on health. Ask Frankfort last year.. Hazard and Pikeville both should be tops in their regions. Fairview could surprise some. If they don't get in trouble. I hear the state is looking into some of the players that came from Huntington, WVa. Same school OJ Mayo and Paterick Patterson played their high school ball. Raceland Rams are really young on the line. And they play a tough non district schedule. 1-5A school, 2-4A and 3A Fleming Co.. Crittenden Co will be as about 99% of the time looking up hill to Mayfield. I don't know anything about Holy Cross except the city they play in..lol

With Raceland being so young. And playing 3A W. Carter then 4A Boyd Co, 5A Power House Ashland, 4A Greenup Co, 3A Fleming Co, and 3A East Carter before dist play. We could see some early losses. And that could hurt us in the polls. #6 may be a little high with the youth and schedule we play. Thanks for the ranking though!!

Bluto ... you keeping the wraps on LCA or can you fill us in on expectations among the LCA faithful?

 

Quite honestly, I have been out of the loop for a while. I haven't had a son on the high school team for almost 4 years. And most of the kids that I coached on the middle school team have graduated: Lucas Witt, Drew Walls & Sam Duff were 5th graders, & Scout McCamy was a 4th grader on the middle school team (before we got REAL coaches!). Crazy, I know!

 

Almost all of my contacts are gone, so all I can do is watch the games & analyze the best I can. Not sandbagging; I really wish I knew more.

 

 

P.S. as far as the success of the LCA program is concerned, Coach Rains & his team were obviously able to "overcome" our Jr. High coaching!

Look for some Bethlehem HS to be a suprise team. Although they lost some very good skilled position players in Casey Robinson and Luke Wimpsett they return the majority of their offensive and defensive lines. Additionally a change on the top of the coaching staff with the departure of Torzenski and Ron Koontz from Bardstown HS being named as head coach will pay big dividends. Steve Hart has also been asked out of retirement to help run the offense. I expect this team to have a very good year.
