Is Shirley Sherrod Rushing To Judgement?

Featured Replies

I think Sherrod has some issues of her own with racism. Though the footage was doctored in that it didn't show the entire speech, it showed enough to show what her actual feelings are on the subject.

For now she's milking this 15 minutes of fame for all it's worth and I have little doubt that she will sue someone. In my opinion her only possible case would be against Breitbart. She has the Adminstration feeling very uncomfortable right now, and even though they have apologized, she's not going to bail them out anytime soon..

Fair enough viewpoint of Breibart, but what of Sherrod? Do you see her as one that has overcome racism, or do you see her as still struggling with it?

From the full speech and her comments here I don't get that impression. She was the pawn in a racially motivated hit and it's not surprising she sees that as the prime motivator. She just doesn't seem very smart. Savvy might be the better word.

This whole thing is starting to feel like a staged event. 25 year old video, out-of-context editing, quick firing without the fact, putting all the blame on Fox News, rehiring and now endless discussion on something that happened years ago. A lot of drama for nothing. But it keeps peoples minds off of oil spills, radical supreme court nominations, stagnant economy and dropping polls.
Is that the right-wing playbook response?

I agree that she's not very savvy and that she was a pawn. You don't get the impression she's fanning the flames of racism a bit here?

Normally you guys act like the Left is completely loony and out to lunch ... now you're giving them credit for media manipulation as a behind-the-scenes strategy.

I suspect neither is the case.

No one is preventing you from asking them ...

Sorry I did not respond too quickly. Was looking in the playbook on how to pay for college cost for a a couple of kids (planned) and a wife (unplanned) with lower household income in the Obama economy.

25 year old remarks that have created useless drama and theater are low on the priority list. I do not even know what the remarks are but they have consumed a lot of media airtime and internet bandwidth by left and right talking heads. The original right-wing blog was stupid for trying to play 'gotcha' and all the others on left and right were stupid for fanning the flames.

"Never let a good crisis go to waste." still appears to be a 'playbook' from this White House. I wish they would grow up and get above getting dragged into these types of tit-for-tat squabbles. Its just not fitting for any administration. They should have done their homework, gathered the facts carefully and made one decisive action and been done with it. Fired her and explained why or kept her and explained why - one or the other. On THEIR schedule not the 24x7 talking heads schedule.

So, which is it ... is the White House a crew of total idiots or is it the master media manipulator?

I don't think you can have it both ways.

Nothing, but I wasn't aware you were the thread tour guide.

Personally, I'm not that concerned about Sherrod's remarks, and I haven't paid attention to them. She was the subject of a smear, and she's responding ... more power to her.

Frankly, given her life experiences, I don't feel I'm qualified to comment on how she views race relations.

Why even come into these threads and post at all? :idunno:
