July 18, 201016 yr My opinion - and it's just opinion - is that we either have racism thinly veiled as satire, or satire thickly veiled as racism.
July 18, 201016 yr As I have stated on here before, most everyone owns views that are prejudicial to varying degrees. In other words, most all of us are racists to varying degrees. Read between the lines and you can see it on this board and any board. Some people are flaming racists; others cling to silly racial stereotypes passed on to them from dad and grandad. Sure, many in the Tea Party crowd seem to have the racist bug pretty bad and Carter was right, much of the abject hate directed at Obama is racial. It is a sad fact of life, but most people are racists to some extent. Many keep it hidden pretty well; others not so much. I was born and raised in a very racist little SE KY town. There was even a documentary made about the town and it's racist past and present. I heard the movie is still shown in college classes all over the country. I abhor racists and I abhor racism. It is ignorance, fear, and self-loathing all wrapped up into one very nasty little package. But unless the Earth is invaded by aliens, in which case we may cast our racial divides aside, racism is here for the long haul.

Agreed, there will always be racism. People seem to have the incessant need to dislike those that are different for one reason or another. That doesn't mean that the majority of those in groups like the Tea Party or the NAACP are racist though. All that's going on when it comes down to these two things is business as usual in politics.

The racism card is dealt by those that are desperate and know their cause is losing. It is done by the intellectually lazy that refuse to see what is coming down the pike very soon.... It looks like if their leaders didn't have a problem with the TEA Party that their followers would see how little it makes them looks to continually play the race card...

The upcoming mid-term elections have the Democrat party in certain peril. Shabazz and NBPP are NOT a part of the NAACP. They don't need to distance themselves from people who are not a part of their organization, just like the tea party doesn't have to distance itself from every racist organization. Both groups need to do things like the Tea Party did with Mark Williams. When those who are leaders or even outspoken members of the group make racist pronunciations, they should be expunged. It lends much credibility to both groups.
