Who did they beat? Anybody impressive? Any surprises?

Watched several games over the past four days. A lot of team around the State did not play in it. Really hard to gauge alot other than to say that Scott County is a good team and at this tournament is seemed they were in a league by themselves. Rowan County was the only team to play with Scott County for any length of time. In pool play they went in at the half tied at 33. SC shoots the ball very well from behind the 3 pt line. Tates Creek played without Fucci, and lost Barksdale on Saturday to injury. Tates Creek will be in the hunt in the 11th region. Due to a Coach's decision Hazard played most of the tournament without Combs and Back. They still looked pretty good. I think they will figure into the mix this year in that Region. Pulaski County may surprise some people in the 12 region. Would like to have seen them play West Jessamine. They won a close game against Rowan in pool play, but lost a close one to Bryan Station in the second round of the tournament. Bryan Station seems to lack some discipline under first year head coach Mike Allen. McCreary Central is playing without their very talented junion, Dixon, who rumor has it got in some trouble at school. With out him in the line up i would say that in becomes a SWHS v. WC district final. Again it was very hard to judge with so many regions under represented in the tournament.

Anyone else have a problem with the final 2 rounds of this tournament being played on Sunday morning. More than that it was Father's Day Sunday morning. Maybe this is a question for P&R but that forum is dangerous.

AAU seems to be a waning fad in KY. It appears to me, too many coaches and/or teams have been burned by inordinate competition levels, high fees, and disorganization.

Not me. I wish we could have rode the 25 miles to Lexington for more basketball yesterday but we lost on Saturday.

I think you're sorely mistaken.

I thought the AAU tourney went well, though I have to admit I like the school teams better as opposed to the "All-Star" teams where basically the team that recruits the best for that weekend wins. A group of players sticking together and working throughout the offseason for their March dream surely can't be just a fad. Also, while I understand the Sunday/holiday complaint, there are worse things for a father and son to share than a day of basketball.

I heard the same thing. I guess South wasn't very competitive in the varsity tournament, so they moved some of their varsity down to the JV team. It's probably not that big of a deal since it is just summer ball, but doesn't seem fair to some of the teams they beat.

Happens though. Not sure about fairness, but I have seen many teams play older guys on the JV team, especially after the varsity is bounced or not entered.

Seniors should not be playing any JV, PERIOD! I can see underclassmen playing but not a senior.

He is young if I heard correctly, he is 16.

I've never noticed that before, but I don't always have the rosters. I think Knott had a couple of juniors last year, which I believe is legal. I think South had Khan and Skinner (a junior) along with Sanders, Schaser and Rader, who are sophomores, as the starters in the game I saw Sunday. I don't know what happened to Sears, who is probably the second best sophomore.

Their varsity included 3 soph's to be 1 jun. to be and 1 8th grader to be. Those were the kids that also played JV along with Khan. It is summer ball for a reason, I dont see anyone saying that its not fair for young kids to get varsity experience so why is it unfair for those young kids to play against their age?
