You are right on all points and I can't argue with any of them. That is why OSU needs to run the table this year and BEAT an SEC team, probably Alabama, in the National Championship game to turn the tide. No pun intended.

They certainly have the potential, now the question will be can TP play like he did in the Rose Bowl for an entire season....

 

The true early test will be against Miami, FL. That game should be a good measuring stick.

I can't deny that the SEC has been on a good run the last few years but there have been title games played when an SEC team was not envolved, and who is to say it can't happen this year. You can talk trash all you want and I will except it because your team can back it up and have the potential to repeat this year. But when UK fans talk trash to OSU fans it is kind of funny. They ride the coat tails of the SEC powerhouses and have to schedule sisters of the poor in their non conference games just to make a bowl game. I guess I see things a little differently, I think teams win National Championships and not conferences. OSU has the potential to run the table as well and I would like nothing more than to play another SEC school in the Championship game. Maybe they can get that monkey off their back then.

Royals, great post ^^^I wasn't really talking "trash" with you just pointing a great run the SEC has had. Now I only went back 5 years. Look at the 90s with the Canes/FSU. OSU has won recently too. I also see OSU as a favorite and agree with FC on TP. Cats fans are waiting on the B-ball draft and the next 10th grader recruit that shoots the three. Where are the cartoons faces at?

I was referring to Go Cat's talking trash, and was pointing out you could do it and that would be fine cause your team can back it up. I think SEC fans rally around the conference more that any other conference but its a little harder to take when it comes from fans who's team has never won anything. I live here in KY and here it all the time and it is actually quite amusing.

 

I don't want to highjack the thread and make it a SEC vs Big Ten debate, so I have shared my thoughts and we can return to the great QB recruit that we just got and look forward to him producing on the field. I think the sky is the limit for this guy. I don't think he is quite the physical speciman/athlete that Pryor is but he is a good athlete and a more polished thrower at this stage in the game.

 

Alabama Larry, Any new news on your end regarding Trey Depreist? We are hoping that Braxton can keep him close to home. I know he likes Bama awfully well though.

Larry is a straight shooter and a big Bama guy. He is not a Buckeye hater or anything.

 

I like the changes OSU has made in their recruiting. It will prepare them more to play against fast schools. Braxton is going to terrorize any defense, I hope we can just keep Trey from going to Bama although it wouldn't be a bad second choice.

I think you make great points here. I like the SEC and the Big 10, but think it is absolute nonsense that the championship games are always in warm weather sites. This is a decided advantage for the warm weather schools.

It's a decided advantage for the better team. Personally, I like championship games decided by the teams if possible. I don't want somebody winning because they benefitted from a snowstorm.

He should call Jordan Campbell at USC and see how that Trojan tat looks now as he is set to transfer after 3 years...

I don't know much about the kid, and I think it is way too soon to crown him the next Pryor when I'm still not sold on Pryor....however, with the schedule and talent they have, I put OSU as the odds on favorite to take the title this year. I think they are the best team in the nation starting out the season. If they should falter somewhere along the way, which I don't see happening the Rose Bowl looks to be a virtual lock the next few years.

His doesn't like being compared to Terrelle. His game is more like Troy Smith but Braxton has a higher ceiling.

Terrelle Pryor as a freshman or sophomore is a PERFECT comparison to Troy Smith as sophomore. Troy was not a true pass first QB until his senior year. Troy, in his sophomore year (and still a lot in his JR year) looked to run first and fore most.
