I guess I need to hear your explanation as to why you decry the taking of a life and yet you're not sure if that deserves prison time.

Let me add, I do agree with Obama (I will wait for both of you to get back up off the ground and back into your chair......................................................................) that more social programs for CHILDREN need to be done to help mothers. One difference is that I think those programs need to come from local and national churches and NOT the government.

 

The church is supposed to be the answer to society's problems NOT government. Or at least, that is my view of how Christianity is supposed to work. Jesus and His Church is supposed to be the answer, not Obama and his government.

As we move through a time from it being legal to illegal, there would need to be a period of more compassion in this country for the mothers. I don't think it would serve anyone if abortions were illegal beginning today that we put a mother in prison for an abortion tomorrow.

 

Eventually, as we move through that adjustment period that it survives legal challenges and the like and society has moved to an acceptance of it being illegal, than you would have a stricter policy on the issue.

Lets assume that 99.9% of abortions are not at gunpoint or as a result of a threat from the father. We can all agree that most/all abortions happen because of the "inconvenience" of having a child. Again, those that are pro-choice would "throw the book" at someone killing a 10 day old baby. The issue is where life begins. Honestly, I do not know the answer to that question.

I have heard the argument that it is better for a child to be aborted than to grow up in a poor home life. For some, it is also about the quality of life. Mother cannot provide a good home life and it is okay for her to abort her child.

 

I don't know the numbers but I do recall that African Americans are disproportionately aborting their unborn children over other races.

It makes me convinced that I would never choose abortion, under any circumstances. I can't make that decision for someone else.

I have driven through DUI checkpoints as sober as the day I was born and had no problem showing my "papers." It is simply politicians on both sides demonizing and praying on the emotions of the voters.

 

This is not an apple to oranges comparison. EVERYONE is stopped at a DUI checkpoint. Will EVERYONE be assumed to be an illegal immigrant in Arizona or just those of us that look hispanic?

Your assumption is correct... If some one other than the mother kills the baby they are charged with murder..(other than doctors and they should be.)
