Wilhoite was the reason Bieger got another chance at Cooper. He was also Biegs insulation blanket so it would be interesting to see how this pans out. At CCH? I don't recall any tirades getting him in trouble there. St Henry? Yes.

I have heard that the administration and Whilhoite did not see eye to eye anybody have further info. Whilhoite has coached and taught in the a boone county system for about 15 years. Strange that you would spend that amount of time in 1 district get the AD job at a new school and leave after 2 years.:confused:

I believe others have alluded to the administration at Cooper being a problem. I could be wrong on that but I seem to remember in the threads about Coach Sullivan that some thought it would be wise for him to get away from the Cooper administration.

Heard today from informed sources that I am not going to reveal that Bieger has been suspended for the remainder of the year and that it looks like Cooper will not bring him back next year. Ahler (sp?) will be the coach for now.

I hadn't heard anything about the on-field rant you're talking about, and I don't know what it was about, but I will say it doesn't surprise me that it happened. I've known Bob Bieger for over 20 years. He is absolutely passionate about everything he does - to a fault. He's even more passionate about baseball. He is usually very logical when forming his opinions and taking sides when it comes to matters of debate. That being said, Bob's Achilles heel is the fact that in some circumstances, he has a hard time getting his passion to take a back seat to the situation in which he finds himself. He absolutely does have respect for authority, but he has a hard time holding his tongue when he feels like fair play, due process, or "the right thing" is being threatened.

 

I miss having him at Cov Cath.

There was no such tirade which got him in trouble at Covington Catholic. He left on his own terms, albeit unusual timing (to say the least).

Trust me.... Coach Bieger is back Saturday for practice and will coach Districts next week. AFTER that a decision will be made.

There weren't any exactly any tirades that got him in trouble at Cov Cath, but I can tell you as a witness that he and Jack Kennevan did not see eye to eye on many of their ideas of what "Cov Cath" was about. He left because the work and teaching environment was made very difficult for him by some of the faculty, stall, and administrators.

 

As I said before, Bob is passionate to a fault, but I would absolutely have taken him over Kennevan any day of the week.

He emabarred his assistant coaches by telling them to go back to St. Henry they would do more good there. He was also throwing things against the back of the dug out. The throwing things and the comments made towards his assistant coaches, they don't surprise me. That sounds like something Bieger might do. I wouldn't necessarily say I approve of it though. (You'll notice I've said twice that Bob is passionate to a fault.) But still, who hasn't seen coaches throw down clipboards or headsets and kick the dirt on the sidelines or in the dugouts? Who hasn't heard coaches make sardonic comments and cynical comments to officials, players, or other coaches?

If they're quitting, don't sugar coat it, tell them they're quitters. What's surprising to me, however, is that he would tell a player that they sucked. I understand some of your arguments. The only thing that I have a problem with is doing in front for everyone to see and embarassing young kids. There are ways to get your point across and doing it infront for everyone to see is not one of them. The program is fairly new which means, they have younger kids playing up that may be outmatched. The information that I received from a parent that it all started because they were losing.

His kids were not outmatched Saturday. They were playing a Villa team that only had 14 players total in the program and 9 are freshman.

In some of the posts we read how great Cooper is doing and then this??? Just curious.

 

I always read on here how people want to protect the kids because they are kids......does anybody else besides me think it is time for high schoolers to toughen up a bit? Not talking about this incident specifically, but in general. I wonder if this has something to do with our country falling further and further behind the world academically, etc. Maybe some more "tough love" might be appropriate.
