Walton-Verona 2010/2011

Featured Replies

Walton is in a conference with Gallatin, Owen, Carroll, Trimble, Williamstown and Henry County. I believe the letters are NCKC.

You are correct as stated in previous posts.

But it is to there benefit to play other NKCA members in order for their players to have a better chance for recognition.

Why do you think they play so many 9th Region teams?

Madman beat me to it again, but proximity more than anything else. They have a slew of quality ninth region opponents closer than their non-district eighth region opponents.

Waltons schedule was just not very strong a season ago. They obviously have a nice group of talented young ladies, Hopefully they have significantly beefed up their schedule. If not, that could really hurt them come tournament time.

Is it also possible that coach Miller thinks that playing a tough 9th region schedule will better prepare his team to play in the Regional All A and District Tournaments?

I agree. Here is their Schedule from their Website, but I'm not sure if anymore games are to be added.

Dec 3rd @ Bonne County

6th vs Owen County

10th vs Simon Kenton

13th @ Grant County

17-18-19 @ PRP Tournament

Jan 3rd @ Trimble County

4th vs North Oldham

7th vs Williamstown

8th @ MLK Classic @ Lexington Dunbar

10th-15th All A @ Walton

17th @ Highlands

20th vs Grant Countyy

22nd vs South Oldham

25th vs Newport Central Catholic

28th @ Williamstown

29th @ Henry County

31st @ Simon Kenton

Feb 7th @ Owen County

9th vs Covington Scott

14th vs Covington Holmes

18th @ Carroll County

Looks a little bit tougher then a season ago. They added some nice teams (Boone, NCC, Scott) and didn't lose very many quality opponents outside of Conner. Coach Miller is hampered somewhat by the All-A and the Conference they play in, but it looks like Walton made an effort to beef up their schedule.

We argued about this whole thing and the only 9th region teams are Boone, NCC, Highlands, and Holmes?

Sorry sandman and madman, if I would have seen the schedule earlier then I probably would have kepy my trap shut. Especially since (I believe) any NKCA recognitions would have been voted on from the smaller 9th region schools.

Apology accepted. Why would they waste a game on playing a smaller 9th region school? I guess if you are going to play some 9th region teams, play the best.

Don't worry about.

Its "skeery" up there and those little Anderson girls don't want to be "skeered" again.

Don't understand your post. What in the world are you talking about?

Shelby Mullikin is a Freshman and should see some minutes this year. Point Guard is a major concern.
Up and coming player for sure just not ready yet.
