Boone County 2010

Featured Replies

Boone plays real teams unlike Sk who plays absolutely no one. There is no way Boone will go 3 and 7. They will easlily beat Cooper,Conner,Campbell, and Dixie. Sk is way over rated and Boone will most likely beat them. And I will say Boone has a shot agaist either Scott County or Anderson. Ryle will be one of the best teams in the state of Kentucky and roll through the district. Highlands is good year in and year out so I don't see Boone beating them and Henry Clay seems to have a pretty good team this upcoming year.

Anderson will be Boone County by 4+ td's.

While it is possible to increase your speed over time, it seems highly unlikely that he could drop his forty time from the 4.8-4.9 range to a 4.5-4.6 range. College athletes go to these speed camps down in Florida to go from a 4.4 to a 4.3. It just seems highly unlikely though that Boone is doing something different that is dropping a forty time by 3-4 tenths of a second. As I said before, it will be exciting to watch him play this year and I wish him nothing but the best of luck! :thumb:

It's very common for high school athletes to improve on their 40 times. Most high schoolers have not experienced really good speed training techniques and are still developing muscle strength that increases speed, and once they go through this proper training the results begin to show. As a college athlete you should have already been through this training and should be at your top end of speed ability, so the comparison is no where near equal. What's the reason behind saying that "It just seems highly unlikely though that Boone is doing something different that is dropping a forty time by 3-4 tenths of a second." Perhaps it's not the program but the individual himself who has chosen to seek better ways to improve his ability. I know a few Boone kids that are doing extra training outside the program and the positive results are there.

Contradicting statement here?

Refering to Oppenheimer, I haven't seen where he was ever timed at 4.8/ 4.9. UK clocked him at 4.69 on 5/30/10, Maybe give credit for a young man working hard and training to become the best player he can. Because he plays for Boone isn't a factor, it's his individual effort, not Boones history of doing some thing diffrent now.

How good is TE Treran Brown going to be?

What's the reason? The reason is a highly doubt that a high school program knows a trick to drop a kids forty time by that much. I have seen Oppenheimer run in games and I just don't see him as being that fast. The kid is still a tremendous talent at the RB/FB position and will continue the tradition of successful Boone backs. I'm honestly not trying to offend anyone here I'm just stating an opinion. If he is working his tail off in the off-season, good for him. He is taking an initiative that sadly you really do not see out of the youth as much today as say 20 years ago.

Not really? As you see by the way I worded it, it IS POSSIBLE to increase your speed over time, but it seems HIGHLY UNLIKELY. Maybe he has done it and if so I'm happy for the young man and no matter what I wish him nothing but success.

Was he ever clocked prior to the UK time? What method was used at UK? Was it a hand-held watch or the laser digital time? Each method obviously has it's flaws. If Oppenheimer never ran a 4.8-4.9 I will be the first to admit I was wrong. Give him credit? What have I been doing? It's not like I'm bashing the kid, heck I think he's one of the top 3 backs in NKY! I'm just saying I don't think he's that fast, but if he is I'll admit my mistake and move on. No big deal.

Time for me to let this go.It seems to me you answered your own questions, you have no facts to your knowledge of the Oppenheimer kid. Lets enjoy the idea that there is top football athletes in NKY, and we have the opportunity to watch them on Friday nights. LOL

You're right, as previously stated, everything I said was opinion. I never claimed to have facts or proof of what I said.

I agree with you. Anderson is a Division I Ohio school that competes for the state championship every year in Ohio. I don't think there's anyway Boone stays close in that one. Football in Ohio is better than football in KY.

Just a quick correction...Anderson always competes for a state title when they are division 2. When they go up to division 1 (because of enrollment changes, they are competitive, but not state champs). I certainly agree Ohio football is better than KY's, and think Boone will struggle with Anderson like they did in 2009.

You are right. They lost to Elder the game before state last year. My mistake!

I don't know how fast this kid is, but I can tell you that you can drop 0.2 seconds off of your 40 time by just practicing your starts. It has been proven and many of this kids do just that when they get to college. They did not really get faster, they were just coached on proper starts and form running. Watch the combines on TV, they all start the same way, that's not an accident, they have been coached. So, to drop 0.2 to 0.3 off his 40 time is not a stretch.

How good is TE Treran Brown going to be?

I think this all depends on how Boone chooses to use Brown. The kid is a big and strong athlete that can contribute in some way.
