Gruden's QB Camp on ESPN

As far as Tebow...I think he has a HUGE uphill battle, but I also think he will work his butt off and give it all he has. I'll be rooting for him.

I don't see how. Throwing a football is alot of muscle memory. He's been throwing one way for 22 years and in 3 months he can change it? It's not something that would take as long to fix as other mechanical problems but I don't see how people can be sold on it. Obviously NFL teams aren't or they would be drooling at the mouth for him. I think when things get tough in an NFL game Tebow is going to do what everyone would do, go back to the things he's comfortable with.

So you're telling me that he's fix his throwing motion and it's going to be good from now on? Let us also consider that he has worked 99.99% of the gun at the college level, so he's going to have to work on his 3,5 and 7 step drops to go with it. He's going to be thinking alot about his motion this year, which means that it is not fixed IMO. His mechanics have to be 2nd nature to him because he has more important things to worry about in game situations such as reading coverage, adjusting protection, throwing hot against the blitz. I think Tebow can be a good NFL QB, but it's going to be a long process. This is JMO obviously, but I dont' see how a throwing motion can be said to be fixed when he hasn't even been to an NFL practice or game yet.

What people are also ignoring is that they have attempted in the past to correct his throwing motion at Florida, but it became more of a detriment to the team.

True. So if it was a quick fix it would have happened there. We don't know what he'll do in a game with that motion, and we don't know how accurate he is with it either. For one reason or another UF never changed it.

UF didn't change it as he was winning and accurate there, so why mess with it when after his frosh season, he only had a max of 3 more years in the program. For them, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. They didn't do him any favors for his future, but they were interested in winning now and not a future project as he would be as a potential NFL QB.

I also agree that it isn't a quick fix. Once he gets in a game like situation, it will be hard to maintain his new motion. I still think it will take a while to fix his motion entirely.

Bradford says he spent 5 hours with Gruden and learned a lot about the NFL. We only saw about 10 minutes of the 5 hours.

You made my point for me. If it was such an easy fix it would have already been done. He got by with it at the College level so they didn't want to put in the time to do it. If it only took a month or two I believe Meyer would have had it done.

I will admit that seeing him throw now, he has made great strides and obviously has put in a lot of work to do it. But, we agree, it remains to be seen if he can do that under pressure.

I was as impressed with his footwork from under center which has drastically improved. That was a brand new skill for him and one that I think will stick. His throwing motion, ... we will just have to see.

I do not think that is correct. I think every time he spoke about changing it, it was on his own. Now he has a QB coach whos only job is to make him a better qb. In college not many teams will try to correct a flaw in a throw unless it is a detriment to their team.

Most college qb coaches do not worry about a throwing motion as long as the player is effective for their team Look at UK and Woodson.

And some do not know how to teach some one to throw the football correctly.

It is a quicker fix than most realize because his flaw was his "wind up" an how he dropped the ball before he got to the proper place to throw the ball. Once he got the ball back to the pre-pass position, ball pointed away and elbow at 90 degrees, he was fine.

So all he had to change was how he got the ball to the proper pre-pass placement. The actual motion to throw the ball is the same and it was not that bad. He had a good throwing motion with the elbow leading the throw and the elbow elevated above the shoulder line with good extension on his release.

He asked McCoy if he does yodeling...

I don't buy that at all. They brought in the QB coach last year to help Tebow and Brantley. Tebow was suppose to have a new throwing motion for this last season but did not. You can buy the new motion, I'm not until I actually see it in a game and he's able to play well with it.
