April 21, 201115 yr Author So Pilate OKs Jesus to be killed on the Cross, but he washes his hands of the act. He puts a sign above Jesus on the cross and its written in Hebrew/Greek/Latin.."Jesus of Nazareth, The King Of The Jews". The Jews asked him to redo the sign and say that Jesus claimed he was the King, but Pilate said "NO". The Roman guards gambled for his robe, his clothes were divided but there was only one Robe. Psalm 22:18 said this would happen. The Jewish leaders didn't want the victims to be hanging there the next day due to the Sabbath, so they asked Pilate to break their legs, and they did except Jesus whom had already died. Again this was foretold about his legs not being broken. John 19:35 states that the writer John was an eye witness to this event. Nicodemus helped Joeseph to bury Jesus in a tomb that was never used. Jesus comes back and greets Mary who runs and tells Peter/John of the risen Savior. John again states him being an eye witness. Three times Jesus is seen by the discipes. Thomas is the only one who wasn't there but Jesus knew of his request. Jesus asks Peter three times if he loved him, wonder why three times. And three times Jesus asks him to "feed my sheep". John 21:24 John again states of him being an eye witness. If you believe in your heart that Jesus died and rose again you will be saved.
April 21, 201115 yr Thank you, Alabama Larry! Really appreciate your attention to details in the Scripture. What an amazing gift we have in our Saviour, Jesus Christ. It is there if you want it.
April 22, 201115 yr Matthew 27:50-53 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
April 22, 201115 yr Wal Mart came up with the Easter Bunny. Not even close here are two different accounts of the origion of the Easter Bunny http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Bunny http://www.phancypages.com/newsletter/ZNewsletter2599.htm
April 22, 201115 yr Easter bunny kinda freaks me out after watching Donnie Darko haha! But in all seriousness, I believe that I will be spending Easter Sunday at a new church I recently started attending. They are renting out the Bank of Kentucky Center on NKU's campus for a huge 11am service. I'm looking forward to it.
April 22, 201115 yr Author Some more interesting verses. Psalms 22/109:3/34:20/31:5/ Isaiah 53/50:6/ Hosea 6:2/ These were written around a thousand years before it transpired.
April 23, 201115 yr Author My family is going to the Church that we met in, got married at, two sons were Baptized there. We were there for seventeen years. Mama's dad/brother still go there, so we are going with him since we are still visiting churches to join. The movie The Ten Commandments is on ABC from 7-11:44 tonite saturday.
April 23, 201115 yr Matthew 27:50-53 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people. This is an important point. The way I understand it, the curtain of the temple covered the entrance to the "Holy of Holies" or inner sanctuary. This is a place into which only the high priest could enter. In fact, they tied a rope to his leg so that, if he died in there, they could drag his body out. In this room, sat the Ark of the Covenant. But the tearing of the curtain symbolized the fulfillment of prophesy and that the old covenant was no longer necessary. The death and resurrection of Jesus had created a new covenant between God and all of mankind. An interesting note: when the high priest entered the Holy of Holies, he took two goats with him. One he sacrificed, and poured its blood onto a structure over the ark. To the second goat, he told all the sins of the people. He then let the second goat go free into the wilderness. No one was to harm it or bother it in any way. This was the "scape goat." And that's where we get that term.
April 24, 201115 yr Author Great insight Birdie, Leviticus 16 I believe on the scape goat. I'm thinking the Priests went into the sanctuary once a year, Bible is downstairs.
April 24, 201115 yr Author Exodus 10:16.."Pharaoh quickly summoned Moses...(he had enough and decided to give up) he told Moses and Aaron and said I have sinned against the LORD your God and against you, Now forgive my Sin once more and Pray to the LORD your God to take this deadly plague away from me". But God had a different plan.
April 24, 201115 yr Found this from last year. I didn't want to repeat myself. But actually this story needs repeating. Jesus tells his disciples. In three days I will rebuild the Temple. 1st Corinthians 15 is one of the most important chapters in the Bible. If Jesus doesn't come back from the dead, whats the use? Alabama Larry---I so respect all that you write. I am going out on a faith limb here. If you do not agree, I understand. That "3 days I will rebuild the Temple" was Peter finding his Cornerstone to build the one true Christian Church, which is the the Catholic Church. All other Christian Denominations were ( I hate to say) "off -shoots" of the the Catholic Church. I had to put that out there. At the same time I want you to know that I so respect and admire all that you offer regarding your Christian Fath. That is what I have been taught since the beginning of my faith education. I do enjoy your introspective interpretation of scripture, to enlighten us all. I love your Passion for the word of Jesus Christ. An inspiration, indeed.
April 24, 201115 yr Author hoop, let me ponder this a bit. In John 2:19 Jesus tells them, destroy this Temple and I will raise it again in three days. From what I read it is talking about being killed and three days later he is risen. On the Catholic Church I agree they were the first Church after the first church after the day of Penecost. The first Christians were in Acts and they were called "The Way". I also have enjoyed reading your comments and look forward in reading more in the future. Maybe we can discuss the Catholic Church and my Church the Baptist Church..
April 24, 201115 yr Great insight Birdie, Leviticus 16 I believe on the scape goat. I'm thinking the Priests went into the sanctuary once a year, Bible is downstairs. Right as usual. I can't find where it specifically, says "once a year;" however, the chapter is titled "Day of Atonement," so I guess it's implied.
April 24, 201115 yr Happy Easter to all. For any interested, the following is a recording of the "Exsultet", also known as the Easter Proclamation. It has been sung at Easter Vigil Mass every year since about the fifth century. For any who have not been, the Easter Vigil Mass, to my mind, is the most beautiful and moving experience among the rites of the Catholic Church. For those who have, but have never been been to a Solemn Vigil Mass sung in Latin... I would absolutely and unequivocally recommend it. A translation of the Latin text scrolls across the screen in the video.
