A question to the private school supporters.

There are 13 private schools that play football

2 in 4A, 2 in 3A, 2 (I believe in 2A) and the rest 1A. Not much of a playoff. For the 4 biggest team a two week tournament.

In wrestling there are a total of 8 teams with teams. Kind of a step down don't you think.

Those are the two biggest examples of how this hurts the privates that I can think of.

I thought there were more teams than that.

I don't know if anyone can answer this or not but, how much money do the private schools stand to lose by not having a playoff or only having a four team playoff?I would think a St X, Lexington Catholic, Trinity, and Covington Catholic final would be a monster draw. (Also I think they the winner would be the assumed "real" champion of the state)

Would that amount be able to be recouped by scheduling only big ticket games?

In my mind anyway it's not just about the money.

Remember Seneca 2 years ago. Undefeated through the regular season including a win over Trinity but a second round loss in the playoffs. Ask those kids if they would trade that undefeated regular season for a state championship. All students (public and private) deserve the opportunity to prove themselves against the best. In football anyway Trinity and X will always have some credence to an argument that they are the best team but if this comes to pass the same will not be true for wrestling, basketball, baseball etc.

When Trinity wins their first basketball championship I want it to be against the best, not a diluted pool.

It would seem to me that public school administrators would want that for their football teams as well.

Gotcha, I've probably been looking at this to much throught football glasses.

Keep in mind that Public school administrators have more political motivations than private school administrators. They care about making thier resumes look good.

It is obvious by my screen name who I support. I was very much against this Prop because it feels like we (the private schools) are being punished for accusations that have never been proven. After reading Rowdy's question, I have cooled down and tried to be optomistic about how this could benefit the Private schools.

I believe that the Big 2 could use the schedule (mostly) posted by the rowdy red ram. They could schedule more national powerhouses like Moeller, Bell Academy, Cinn St.X and others that are on Sports Illustrated top 25 list. This would only lift the prestige and national attention that these schools could receive. X has already been honered by SI as the 14th(or was it 16) best H.S. sports program in the nation. It would also be a giant draw for kids that have the skills and aspirations to play Div I ball. After all, would you wanna play for a team that will get national attention from college scouts or a team that won the state's B-division championship?

With all of this attention that X and T will be getting, they will draw even more public schools kids. X and T could expand even more. These schools along with Sacred Heart and Assumption already have a greatly disportionate academic advantage over the public schools. The latest rankings have KY public schools ranked 37th among the other states. The 4 private schools mentioned above have been named one year or another to the President's Top 40 high schools in the country in the past 10 years. Some have been on that list twice! So why would any parent not want to give their kid that kind of advantage??

The kids know who the "real" state champion is...whoever wins the private game. Male and Manual will lose all opportunties to became true state champions, because everybody will say....yeah you won...but you couldn't have beaten X or T. Whereas X and T can say we always beat M and M...so much that they had to whine and creat their own state championship so they could win.

The gap has just been widened!!

Excuses are for losers..for people who are afraid to succeed because they are afraid to fail!!

I'm aware that you all ARE upset with what happen, I'm still a little fuzzy on WHY you are upset with what happened, but I not looking for a fight to make anyone upset. I really rather you answer the question (Are the Private Schools really hurt by this?) rather than spew hate my way, infact ignore Manual all together.

BTW Your wrong. Other schools have big draws (Yes Trinity and St X are the biggest). If Manual/Trinity games have brought more people than Male/Manual it is only by slim margins, and from a visual standpoint not appearent.

How about the fact that I`m a tax payer that has decided to send my (2) children to a Private High School that has better education, tradition, facalities ( that we pay for) and in some cases good sports teams. I get no write offs from the State or Federal Govt for the tution. My (2) children and other Private School children deserve the right as children of Ky. State Tax paying parents to partipate in any and ALL Ky. High School State events.

This is yet another reason as to why I'm against it... "Oh you went to Manual? So you couldn't handle the heat of T and X, huh? Whiney loser." Then I'd have to proceed to put that person in a chokehold... I have yet to see a Manual person who is not the Principal support this. I just now talked to one of the seniors on the football team, and he's talking about how everyone he's around is saying the same thing that us Manual supporter/prop20 negators have been saying. It's STUPID. This is getting to be about pride, and Manual is starting to lose it just because of one person. I don't want that to happen... I love Manual, and I take pride in being a graduate, and having played football for 4 years there. I don't want to have to defend myself, and I'm sure there's hundreds of others out there that are saying "hold up a minute".

SAY NO TO PROP 20!

AND GO CRIMSONS (except for Beverly... think of US, woman!)!

Remember Seneca 2 years ago.

Off topic but...

Everytime I think of that team...I wonder how did that team get so many great athletes in that one class.....things that make you go hmmmmm

AMEN! Couldn't agree more!

Let's preach THAT some more, instead of anti-Manual propoganda, shall we all?!

I believe that at least one star player came from a Catholic grade school. I wonder why no one complains about that?

Andy Clark was in CCD classes at St. Pius but he never attended that school. BDFALCON can shed more light on that but I believe that is actually the case there.

ram2003 and RowdyRedRam were on teams for St. Margret Mary, but they were always going to go to Manual if they could get in.
