I know the University of Findlay agrees with you. Can't believe Kentucky colleges let this kid get away. They got a steal.

I would say it was pretty clear from the composition of last year's team that the roster certainly wasn't picked ahead of time.

 

Not to re-visit an old issue, but it was 98% decided before tryouts that the strategy would be to play "small" and who would be filling the slots. There were people that made the team that could have cared less and hardly showed up for the tryouts. There were people that made the team that were hurt for the tryouts. There were people that had very good tryouts that were later asked to join the team, but had already made plans. I would hope the situation would be better this year.

Aaron Wilson from Fulton City, who had absolutely no statewide reputation, made the team last year. That's a good indication that the roster wasn't set before the tryouts.

 

I don't doubt the notion that the decision was to go with a "small lineup," especially after Richie Phares' injury, but that doesn't mean that the roster was already set.

He didn't need a statewide reputation if: a) he fit the bill physically; b) you have someone on your side at the tryouts. But true he was probably not a shoe-in as were some others. And, the decision to go small was made before taking a look at the bigger guys we did have via the tryouts.

These are just the facts and were pretty openly discussed at and during the tryout period last year. I don't why you are trying to personalize this unless you just don't like being disagreed with or have to know everything???:idunno:

I'm certainly not right all the time, but I'm guessing I was right about this one ...

I think it can be political. I don't remember where the coach of last year's team was from, but he chose a player from his team that wasn't all that good. This year will be very interesting because there will be a team picked and there will be atleast 10 players who won't make it with somewhat legitimate arguments about why they should have made it.
