Most would find it hard to believe that the principal/AD does not consult with the coach.

 

CONSULTING with a coach and VOTING the way they want are often 2 different things when the Principal/AD gets to a meeting and the coach isn't around.

A lot of good points made theought the whole thread, but look at it from everyones point of view including the officials. When you work the tourney that you live in, in some places inthe state, is a lot of small close knit communties where people live and work. players live close to these officials and the stripped guys and gals are human beings. They have families and children, and any official is one call from ticking off half of the town and let me assure you that grudges are held for years in some cases. I agree that you dont always have the best refrees on the games in the post season but for the most part they are really good. When these kids that play get to the next level it isnt the same as what they have had all year so isnt it better for THE KIDS to know that things will change on the floor and have them prepared for that.

Having seen the quality of officiating in the regions surrounding the 10th region, the ONLY region I would want to switch officials with, would be the 11th.:thumb::sssh::cool:

We all know that even officials from other regions still know who the stars and big name coaches are in the region they're going to. They still get more benefit of the doubt. We all know it, why fool yourself.

Most good officials do their homework and do not come into games not knowing anything about the teams they are going to officiate. Officiating is like any other job, do your homework and be prepared.

What does the team's record, players coaches or stats depth of their bench, whatever have to do with his/her job which is to call the game fair that game and that game only based on how the teams are playing in that game. Not the game the week before, not because they have a "star" player, or whatever.

 

I think coaches should be the only ones in the game doing homework or "scouting" a team.

I'm sure it's always good to know if either team has a hot headed player to watch out for, tendencies that each team has, like whether they play uptempo or slow it down, helps to get ready in the pre game conference to know what to discusss and how to be prepared for it, helps also to know if they have a whiny coach or one that works the officials hard to just be prepared for it, not like it has anything to do with outcome, but at least you are ready for some of the things that could possibly happen, and I believe this is something done by some of the better officials to be more prepared for what is going on around them. True, but their opinions are taken into consideration and the assigning secretary let's it known that they don't want to stay in region to call.
