I agree with what others have said to this, as you play the hand you are dealt. Where would Montgomery Co had been this year w/o Jenni Lausti playing point guard? Could they still have gotten as far as they did even with Garland playing and not w/o getting Lausti at the point thru the foeign exchange program?

 

Wonder if Clark Co. thinks Ohio, Flemingsburg and Montgomery Co are part of the exchange program.

I agree completely, but as someone stated....stuff happens. Clark Co. understands how stuff happens...

Congrats to GRC but you do have to take into consideration the win at all cost philosophy. Jewel Rogers should never had been on this team with all of the past transgressions. Coaches should teach life lessons, that's more than winning on the court or field of play. She never played a complete season for 4 years because of her behavior and I think that is a bad reflection on the Head coach. GRC turned out to be the better team but it was done in a way that you can't really be proud of if you take into consideration they did it the way they did it. Congrats to Taylor, Brittany, Kayla, Brittany, Preshia, Shamy and those that that did with great sportsmanship and respect for the game.

I think that sometimes by letting them go on and play it keeps them more occupied and keeps them from getting into more trouble. Plus you have all the coaches looking over their shoulders to try and help point the athletes in the right direction. It's just hard to turn your back on kids that need help but have a hard time asking for help....

Not sure but the last one was 1995. Also was told that in 1989, 1990 both the boys and girls went to state.

If it had been one occurrence and given a second chance, I'd understand, but to give chance after chance, year after year, sounds like to me winning was more important to the coach than teaching any life lesson. I'm not buying your explanation. I hope that she has finally realized the decisions she made in the past were wrong ones and makes a positive difference goin forward, but her past actions were a slap in the face to those that were doing the right thing. Seriously, the girl came back and ended up in the starting line up, what about the ones that worked their butts off all season only to get bumped as soon as she was ready to come back? I'm not indicting the player as much as I am the coach in this one.

As we have seen in so many instances, "it's all about winning and by any means." If it means getting players transferring from other schools, allowing players to break rules and still play, or any other number of things, it all comes down to winning. I applaud those coaches who do the right thing, play with the players in their program, and instill life lessons to their players. It doesn't mean they will always win the "big one", but hopefully they get respect by those who understand what we are trying to teach these kids.

Tough situation for sure. Its funny, I mentioned MC would have won this thing earlier if Garland had not been injured and the reaction was as if I was crying around, which is ridiculous. My point was only to say MC is a much better team with her (she did sign D-1) and I avoided any discussion about the late return of Clark's player from that discussion.

As much as I hated to see MoCo not advance to the state this year - especially for the seniors and for Jenny - congratulations to Janie Robinson and the girls for their efforts under difficult circumstances - i.e. injuries, youth, etc. They continued to play hard all season. The younger players will no doubt benefit from this season. The future is bright!!
