I agree it looks like of the 64 teams left in the state 2 of them are from the 31st not bad for two all A schools. What happened to SK dominating the 8th Region? I guess they do dominate the 32nd district though.

 

They entered the region with a veteran team and it showed making the regional finals twice. They've been rebuilding a bit, but have some very nice talent in the pipeline.

#44 Doss played JV, and #13 Riley also appeared in last night's game. Sampson #2, is a frosh but started JV, he did not play last night. Doss should be a key for '10/'11, they have the wings but need some productivity in the paint.

Agree 44 will be a key next year. I really thought he improved over the course of the year and I would have liked to have seen 44 in the second half, especially when OC went with #30 despite the fact that SK continued to press. To me, OC's ability to start handling the press was one of the keys to the final outcome. SK probably needed to come out of it but when they got down by 5, they had to stay in it.

 

I hope Chambers knoggin is alright. He got tagged pretty hard for the second time in about as many weeks. He hit the floor and the next thing I knew the Henry County Constable, Two members of the Fire Department, parents, cheerleading parents and who knows else were running on the floor. Several sherrifs officers were lining up in front of the SK fans. My compliments to Nick Repka for taking over and adding some calmness to the situation, getting Cody patched together and back out on the court. I saw Chambers dad walking down with his coat, I assumed to leave and the next thing I look up at the scorers table and Chambers is going back in....pretty gutsy.

Love seeing that out of a kid. Shows alot of passion for the game.

From my seat I couldn't see what happened at the end of the play but the couple of hundred Simon Kenton fans there were in an uproar when Chambers went down. I like Col. Mike thought he tripped and hit someones knee. The fans sure acted like something happened and were letting the refs know about it.

Seems like most of the SK fans seem to think most of the bad calls were against them. Seemed to me Owen received their fair share of bad calls also. Good luck to Owen Co. in the rest of the tournament. Love this March Madness!

 

If I recall correctly in 2009 Owen won their first round game and lost in the second round to eventual Regional tournament winner Anderson Co. Also, in 2008, and again if I recall correctly Owen played Shelby Co. in the first round and lost by 3 points. Shelby Co. went on to win the regional tournament and lost in the quarter finals of the Sweet Sixteen. So give Owen some credit. T

That's a pretty accurate account. The only thing I would add is that - as he reached down to recover the ball - he actually tripped over it, which is what caused the fall. He was moving really fast, which meant he literally was reaching BACK to get the ball as he ran forward, leading to his hands/feet/the ball all getting tangled up.

 

So glad to see the young man make it back onto the floor, although he had to have a headache supreme. He played a really great game for SK.

 

As for the officials, I've seen some really strange things in the tournaments this year, with the 6th region refs. That said, I've yet to see a single game where the officiating favored one team over the other. It has, however, required the teams to adjust to the officiating, which of course is true all season.

 

SK played a fine game, but they got absolutely hammered on the boards.

They should be OK with that monster JV group who had a win over Scott Co. I don't see how anyone in the 32nd can possibly hope to stay with them.
