Congrats to Boone Co!

It's so funny how this score was 41-40 and everyone talks about what a great game it was and CovCath wins 40-39 in 2OT and everyone says it set basketball back decades. Ryle scored 46 and Dixie scored 39.

I agree, it was tough to watch the sloppiness during regulation and OT but the fact that it went to 2OT's and the way it was decided was pretty exciting.

Final in 9th Region

 

Boone Co jumped out to a 31-21 halftime lead but NCC fought back with several spectacular defensive plays. Geisler did a lot of scoring and rebounding and Meyer was thieving passes all night long.

 

The Rebels though made the big shot in the end with 3 seconds left. Gabbard drives the paint and draws the defense. He dishes to Ronald Cotton who lays it in for an easy duece.

 

Pangallo takes it the length of the court with 2 seconds left but can only throw up an off balance 3pter that banks off the glass no good.

 

 

Would not have counted even if it went.

I'm still scratching my head as to why Boone didn't attack Pangallo in the 2nd half. He had 3 fouls at half. He was generally guarding a guy a head taller, and they never took advantage. Everyone knows as Pangallo goes, NCC goes.

You never know what they would have called Panda. Those refs certainly didnt like blowing their whistle much at all.

I agree, he was somewhat of a non-factor in the 2nd half but still Montgomery should have taken the ball at him each possession.

 

ONe trip down the floor poor Grant tossed up three attempts from behind the arc, he kept either getting his own rebound or running down his errant shot. All 3 missed and that had to really kill his confidence. I kept telling the guy next to me that he has to start hitting after he missed his first 10 but it never happened.

I saw plenty of students there...not side by side doing cheers but throughout the stands.

 

Agreed. There were plenty of Dixie kids there. I had a bunch of Dixie kids sitting directly behind me and the one girl had the nervous leg shake going so bad that I thought I was experiencing a 7.2 on the richter scale. Kids are funny, I just hope she doesnt miss another dose of medicine again tomorrow. Great fan support from all teams. Hey, this is Holmes tourney to lose and fan support can be slim when you know what your fate is eventually going to be.

I had a great time out there tonite. I got to sit directly behind the VIPS in those seats that are on the floor. Its neat seeing legends like Dick Maile sitting right in front of me enjoying a great nite of basketball even though he didnt have a kid or grandkid playing. Guys like him are the backbone of NKY HS basketball. Nice to see him out there supporting the kids. :thumb: 20n10
