March 2, 201016 yr If it weren't for Tebow many folks would not even realize that there was a combine. Who should the media focus on? Javahd Best? The #1 center in the draft? #2 OLB? The media gives us what we crave. We crave Tebow info - and its both for those that like Tebow and those that hate Tebow. It brings eyeballs. I hate Tebow and I don't crave his information at all. If I was craving it, I would have clicked the link at the top or I would have been checking his combine statistics regularly. I care more about Bengals prospects, TOP TIER quarterbacks, running backs, and the best wide receivers. I don't care about an athletic quarterback that couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. He can't take snaps out of anything but the shotgun, he can't throw a deep ball, or any ball for that matter besides a screen pass, and he's going to be something other than a QB in the future, IMO. I just do not care what he does. Give me Toby Gerhart's combine stats who has similar combine material but actually plays a position that he's meant for.
March 2, 201016 yr The Jags will take him in the second round just to fill their seats. They don't have a 2nd round pick.
March 2, 201016 yr I honestly could not care any less about Tim Tebow and his combine performances. The media loves him entirely too much. Not his fault. His combine numbers are impressive. I do agree that much of the national sports media has shown a 'man crush' on Tebow, ... however, for the past year it has mostly been negative regarding his ability to play QB at the next level (he can't, he won't, he shouldn't, he's kidding himself, etc). I am not sure he will be an NFL QB, but his athletic ability and smarts will get him a spot on a roster somewhere and he is a great football player.
March 2, 201016 yr I'm not on his bandwagon yet. I can believe some would take him over Suh. I don't know if there is anyone in the draft I would take ahead of Suh.
March 2, 201016 yr Taylor Mays just ran a 4.24 unofficial 40 yd. dash in his first run. He is 231 pounds.

No offense, my friend, but how is your preference related to the point I made?

March 2, 201016 yr Taylor Mays just ran a 4.24 unofficial 40 yd. dash in his first run. He is 231 pounds. They changed his official time to 4.43.
March 2, 201016 yr No offense, my friend, but how is your preference related to the point I made? Because I believe that's who the media should focus on (except potential Bengal draft picks, of course). I think the media should focus on the top tier picks not the 3rd round players who can't throw.
March 2, 201016 yr They changed his official time to 4.43. Wow. That was way off  Still pretty ridiculous to run a 4.4 at 231 pound.

March 2, 201016 yr They don't have a 2nd round pick. From what I have read on many Jacksonville sites, they are looking to trade down in the 1st round to some how to grab a 2nd round pick and take Tebow. I really think that if Jacksonville dont take him this year they are going to be in alot of trouble selliing seats. Tebow will be a HUGE jersey seller for them and I would look for them to take him in the draft.
March 2, 201016 yr Then why'd you read the thread? Because I pay $20 to read these threads and maybe I was curious as to what the thread was concerning seeing that the title is quite vague.
March 2, 201016 yr Author Because I believe that's who the media should focus on (except potential Bengal draft picks, of course). I think the media should focus on the top tier picks not the 3rd round players who can't throw. Do you understand how newspapers and the electronic media operate? The majority of people are not going to care about top 30 or 40 picks. People are going to read about Tebow because you're either a fan or you hate him. It has nothing to do with the best players. You think people are going to pick up a paper or magazine to read about the hot upshot offensive lineman from the U of Maryland? No chance. They're in the business to make money. Tebow draws eyeballs.

Why should the better athletes be overshadowed by a media-happy tool? He loves the spotlight and takes advantage of it. And also the way the media and newspapers operate stinks, IMO. You see film of Tebow doing all of his great deeds all the time. Do you ever see Patrick Patterson with a news crew? Shaquille O'Neal? Steve Nash? Baron Davis? Antonio Gates? Drew Brees? etc. No. Tebow is the only one you see doing these things because he loves the attention. Edited March 2, 201016 yr by Blue Magic
