I have not seen Sewell play but i have seen Justice play a few times and he is a great high school player who i could definately see being worthy of Mr. Basketball. I am sure Sewell is very deserving but i have not seen him play.

If you look at trends for voting for Mr. basketball in Ky you will see 2 things that stand out. Coaches vote for the award and they "rarely" vote for someone not attending a Ky college. Secondly they "rarely" vote for someone from a Louisville hgh school. Right, wrong or indifferent that's the way it is! These are high school coaches who rarely get to see all the potential candidates and a lot of them will vote for a kid in their area because they have seen that kid or read a lot about that kid in their local papers. Sounds a lot like a popularity contest doesn't it? One thing that gives Justice a decided advantage is that his team is playing in the state tournament and most high school coaches attend the tournament. They have seen what kind of player he is and it will be easy for them to forget about the other candidates since they are not there. I don't see any way that he does not get this award based on these things and he may very well be deserving of it.

Granted, the fact that he's played huge in this tournament doesn't hurt his case either.

I'm drinking the Elisha Justice kool-aid.

Can't imagine Justice doesn't win it now that his team is in the finals.

 

I still believe that overall Sewell played against far better competition this year(even though SV is in finals they still played 1/2 the top 20 teams that Trinity did and 2 of Trinity's four losses were to tonight's opponent Ballard) and put up as good or better numbers but not getting to Rupp will win it for Justice.
