As a pro-life person I don't think the government should be banning drugs or prostitution. But, I do recognize the discrepancy you've uncovered and wish more people took it seriously.

Interesting, can someone dig up a break down of what % of women that choose to have an abortion are college graduates, high school graduates, emplyed, and lastly age?

I'm "Pro-Choice"...I think a woman should be able to send her children to any school they want to.

Well, most of the drugs are outlawed for various reasons. The government has recognized a right of privacy for women that allows them to get an abortion before certain periods of pregnancy. Right or wrong, it has been viewed as a woman controlling her own body. The only other interests that have been identified are the government's interest in life / children & safety.

 

With drugs, there is an interest in preventing crime. Whether it's driving under the influence of drugs, the potential for death / physical harm that results from overdoses, or the general spike in crime that results from a black market, the government has identified a legitimate interest in outlawing certain drugs. Even if they're done in private, there is still an effect that it has on society (you're supporting a drug cartel, the dealer who buys / sells it, etc.)

Truth is, the government has caused much more crime by making these drugs illegal then there ever would have been if they were legal.

 

The black market exists for drugs because of the war on drugs, right?

 

As to the overdoses, that's a victimless crime IMO, your choice, your mistake. No different to me than someone dying from alcohol poisoning.

Yes, the government has created more crime be criminalizing some drugs.

 

Do you think that all drugs should be legal? Opium, ecstasy, LSD, cocaine, meth, etc? I'm not talking about marijuana, mushrooms, or other "natural" drugs. I'm talking about the synthesized, man-made drugs.
