Boone County 42 Ryle 41

Featured Replies

I know Crittendon was out of the game at least a quarter but I didn't think she got the ball enough - especially at the end.

I thought Ryle dribbled too much. They were kinda predictable because they always went RIGHT and the one girl always drives to the basket so the defense knew EXACTLY what was going to happen. It was lucky for Boone because they just all collapsed in. I had heard that Ryle shot a lot of 3s but that didn't happen tonight.

That is most teams.

You are right in that most teams have a strong side (usually the right) but it seemed that they went right 90% of the game. Boone mixed it up and passed the ball around.

I was there from out of region just to watch two talented teams play. The charging foul that Crittendon's 4th was atrocious.

Wow. I'm pretty darn biased towards Ryle and I thought that was absolutely a charge on Crittendon. Frankly, not even close. Moss definitely got away with a couple over the backs. She is a terrific player though.

Fun game to watch. I was surprised to see Ryle stay with the full court press so long early on. Boone beat it easily every trip down the court and it usually ended with Moss getting the ball in the middle of the lane for a layup.

Shame Ryle couldn't get off a better shot at the end.

I checked with someone who had no dog in the fight and he also happens to know how to watch a game from a rules perspective. His opinion was that the player control foul on Crittenden was a no-brainer. He also felt she stole one earlier when it could have/should have been a block but it went player control on Boone.

We've got the game audio, video and pictures on the website. Go to the webcast thread for the address.

Great game tonight. Glad to be able to call it. We'll see both teams next week at the Bank Of Kentucky Center.

I agree. Actually Ryle did well to keep it close with her on the bench. Ryle knows they can beat them in the Regionals if they face them again.

I think Moss gets too many free passes from the Refs based on her name/reputation.

Ryle did well to keep it close with number 35 on the bench but i just dont understand how you can say they know they can beat them when boone has came up with two wins in two tries... And about the Refs i thought they did a good job for the most part i mean they missed a few here and there on both sides but if they made every little call the teams would be in the bonus the whole game. Also the charge call on jenna was just so plain and clear to see i dont understand how anyone could see different. AND saying that about Sydney is just so unfair to her she cant help the name she has and to say she gets free passes from her name is just unbelievable she is a great player and still would get the same numbers with or without the last name Moss.she is just such a smart player. and when the ball is in the air and she goes and gets it doesnt make it over the back. The last thing i wanna say is... dawn johnson she is a great defender probably the most aggressive i've seen beside the girl from ncc and for only being a freshman it just amazes me how tough she is!

Thanks Sonny. For the refs to take Crittendon out of the game is pretty sad. As I've said in earlier posts, you can call a foul every time down the floor. One of the refs decided early on that they weren't going to called against Moss. I take nothing away from her game. She is an offensive machine but she fouls as often as anyone else on the floor. Moss scored over her average. If Crittendon hit her average Ryle wins by 6.

how can you say if crittendon hits her average then ryle wins by 6. what if sandlin hit her average of 8 a game and strout hit her average of 12 a game then it would be a rebel win by double figures. and Moss is a smart player she never has fouled out since i've watched her play and thats aau ball included where she has played against bigger names than her. so I'm just in shocked that people take away from her game and say she does what she does cause of her name. Its just so sad

You are absolutely right that Sydney is a phenomenol ball player. She just keeps getting better. It is amazing she is just a sophomore. Nell is a great coach and knows how to make girls play to their potential.

Pretty obvious that an overtime loss and a one point loss in which Ryle took a potential winning shot at the buzzer (albeit not a real good one) shows they can play with and beat Boone. And were able to stay with Boone with their top gun on the bench for large portions of the game. Not sure if Boone would fair quite as well if Moss had to sit for half a game. Bottomline is that Boone has scoreboard on Ryle for now, but that Ryle would go into a re-rematch with Boone with the confidence to know they can knock them off.

Difference is they all played in the game and actually had a chance to reach their average. Crittendon sat for 12 minutes. If Moss sits for 12 minutes

against Ryle in a game Boone has no chance. Then we could really see

how good a coach Nell is and getting the most out of her players!!

and needless to say - if Moss doesn't transfer to Boone, Boone most likely wouldn't have even been in the district finals.

Let the referee's call the game as close on Moss as they do on Crittendon and have Moss spend the same amount of time on the bench as Crittendon and Ryle wins in a blowout. However, it's just another great game with great performances on both teams and the what if's are for us whose playing days are long ago. The Region should be a lot of fun! Congrats to the Lady Rebels!

Referree calls often seemed biased to a passionate fan - and sometimes the calls really are terrible and occasionally a bit one sided. But that's the game!

Moss scored 24 of her 29 from her own comfort zone. So hard to stop her there! Ryle did better with that in the second half. Try again next week!

No one can take anything from Moss's game. Over 70% of Boone's points last night! Such a strong player for a sophomore! (Ditto for Crittendon!) Hard to believe both of those young ladies showed up the same day at Ryle as freshman!

My thought is you should always go into a game knowing you can knock someone off or maybe you shouldn't be on the court. Until Ryle gets the "W", we have to say Boone is the better team. No crying about key players sitting for foul trouble, and refs making bad calls. Bring in your subs, play through the refs and do your best, if you win congrats to you and if you don't have respect for the winning team and congratulate them. Did Crittendon really sit for half a game, or one quater, I keep hearing different stories.
