Beechwood pretty much rolled in this one from the tip on, big night from Freshman Chase Maus and Junior Tyler Fangman. The Tigers lock up their third straight NKAC Division III Conference Championship. Since Shumate took over the program Beechwood is 41-1 in conference play. Congrats to the Tigers on another DIII Championship.

I was rooting for Coach Dilts and the Greendevils, but the Tigers went into Dayton and demonstrated their supremecy in becoming deserving conference champions.

 

The Greendevils must be very disappointed.

I felt like it was a "fluke" after Dayton beat the Beechies in the first go around.

 

I guess this game goes to show that the Devils still have a long way to go.

Nothing to be ashamed of down at Dayton. Dilts and the boys may not have the hardware but this group of Seniors have come a long way since their 8th and 9th grade years when coach was forced to play those guys in varsity games.

 

Congrats to the Beechies and good luck to both in the Districts because both have their work cut out.

Congratulations to Beechwood on the D3 NKAC championship and the three peat. I am a little surprised at the margin. Shumate must have the Tigers clicking on all cylinders again to get that margin against a very solid Dayton team. A very solid team effort for the Tigers.

 

Congrats to Dayton on a valiant effort at wresting the title from the Tigers. This senior class has set the path for the GreenDevils behind them to follow. Good luck to Dayton in districts.

 

As for the Tigers, on to the Holmes Bulldogs. Don't be surprised if that score is closer than what many may be expecting. I bet the Tigers are kicking themselves for losing that game to Holy Cross. The Tigers will play their usual solid defense and make the Bulldogs work for everything they get. If they stay patient, take care of the ball and get a few threes to fall, anything can happen.

Yes, Cruse went down in the first quarter of the first Dayton game. For Beechwood that has turned out to be one of those situations where the team grows from adversity. Freshman Chase Maus has stepped up since the Cruse injury and developed very well. Last night Maus had 15 points in the most important game of the year for the Tigers.

I tip my hat to the Beechwood Tigers, they graduated four starters from last year's team that won a Division III title and came back to win another one in dominating fashion this year. Beechwood went out and earned it on the court.

Beechwood is a good team, the Devils have nothing to hang their heads about. 41-1 is pretty impressive at any level, to be the team that beat them and on Beechwoods court means to me that these Devils have in fact come a long way. Unfortunately the cycle of talent may be coming to an end with these Seniors, but Dilts and the Devils have restored some respectability. Good luck to both teams as both have a very tough game in the District.

Not to take anything away from the Devils, but Cruse going down in that first game had a lot to do with them winning at Beechwood...IMO, of course.

The fact that people are saying those seniors have come a long way since they were younger 8th and 9th playing varsity, well I do believe that Beechwood started two freshman(9th) last night. I am sure that Dayton must feel like they underachieved. They were picked to be the heavy conference favorites preseason, then Villa. Beechwood graaduated 4 starters.
