So you'll get no guilt trip from me.
February 23, 201016 yr I'm old enough to remember the Bobby Sherman-David Cassidy days well. Much to my lasting agony, the death of 1,000 cuts would be more pleasurable than reliving those memories. Aw, man! You don't like "I Think I Love You"?!:eek:
February 23, 201016 yr I've also been in contact with the guy that co-wrote quite a few of Bryan Adams' songs for my blog... His name is Jim Vallance. I didn't think the lyrics made sense, and I just wanted to hear specifically from the man that wrote them what was going through his head as he did so. An excerpt of what he had to say about the song "Heaven" is below: Regarding my song "Heaven", it was co-written in 1983 with my good friend Bryan Adams (one of my favourite singers, ever). Admittedly, our lyric doesn't quite pass the "Don Henley" test, but it more than gets the job done ... the proof being that it, too, sold 20 million copies and reached #1 on a number of international charts (including Canada and the USA). In other words, SOMEBODY liked the song. In addition, it resurfaced 20 years later as a DJ Sammy "dance" track and once again topped the charts. Go figure! As a side-bar it's interesting to note that the more Bryan and I tried to write lyrics that were meaningful and relevant, the fewer albums we sold. The general public, for the most part, seem less interested in being challenged intellectually, preferring to simply be entertained. Which occasionally serves to remind me ... I'm in the "entertainment business". I can choose to be clever, or I can choose to be focussed. So far, during the past 40 years (or however long I've been writing songs for a living) "focussed" seems to put more food in my refrigerator. So forgive me if some of my lyrics are more vapid than valid, but that's the nature of the beast.

February 23, 201016 yr My sister was of an age where David Cassidy was all that. For a while, everywhere I turned in the house I either saw David Cassidy or heard David Cassidy. Experiences as horrifying as those tend to stay with you for a while.
