If You're The Bengals....

Do you go out and try to get either Antonio Pierce or Joey Porter?

One of the things this team desperately needs on the defensive side of the ball is depth....I wouldn't be opposed to them at least taking a look.

Did Miami run a 3/4 or or a 4/3? Because if they ran a 3/4, then the only problem with getting Porter would be that he had played in the 3/4 all his life and in the 3/4 those outside backers do get to blitz a lot. That does not happen in the 4/3. So I don't how much he would help, if he has only been in that 3/4. Now with Pierce how old is he? Is he younger than Dhani Jones? If not, then it really makes no sense to get him IMO. However I wouldn't have a problem with it, if they did get either.

Now I would really like it if they at least tried to get Peppers. Geathers has done nothing since his big contract, and to get a guy like Peppers would really add the missing piece to this defense IMO.

Pierce doesn't have much left physically, but he is a very very smart player and will one day be a coach IMO.

He said he wants to stay in the NFC East, but Dallas runs a 3-4 and he isn't going back to Washington so that only leaves Philly. I'd hate to see him in a Philly uniform, but he's not that good anymore, so I don't think he'd really help them. Who knows though, Reid knows how to get the most out of old linebackers.

Dolphins are a 3/4 team.

Peppers would have obviously been an ideal get, but I think we all realize the Bengals aren't going to pay that kind of money.

Pierce or Porter would be a quality addition. I'd prefer Pierce over "The Mouth".

In all honesty, I'd rather the Bengals just draft another young LB. Rivers will be in his 3rd year. Rey will have a year under his belt. Dhani is getting old & another young, talented LB would make the Bengals' LBers some of the youngest, most athletic LB's around.

Well that is another good thing that could actually come say that they sign TO. They probably wouldn't use their first pick on a receiver, and so it would probably be defense if its not a TE. I know if they do end up making these moves, I wouldnt mind seeing them take a Brandon Spikes with that pick.

Spikes would be a nice get, but where would they play him?

Well Dhani is getting older. They could let him take over for Dhani in the middle. They could let him play behind him for a year and let him learn. Or they could move Magulaga to the middle, and let Spikes play the position that Magulaga played last year.

I just imagined that Maualuga's future was probably in the middle. To me I couldn't see Spikes anywhere else but their either. But, long term I'd go Spikes over Maualuga, and where RM has experience now other than in the middle, the two could possibly work together. Now that I think of it, I really like that combo if they were in a blitz heavy scheme. :thumb:

I would love it. They would have the best young linebacking core in the NFL. So if they say also sign TO. Then I think TE, linebacker, or safety should be what they use for their 1st pick.

Sure those three would look good but aren't their more pressing needs on the defensive side? They could use another saftey and they need to start thinking about the future at CB.

They have two young very good corners. Only thing they need to think about is giving those guys an extension. Safety, and another linebacker is what they need to really focus on IMO.
