February 13, 201016 yr A lot of stuff happens to this guy in a very short period of time, doesn't it? This was my first impression as well when I heard what the show was about. It is awwwwwwwwwesome though. Sure at times it gets a little unrealistic but what TV show doesnt? You should give it a shot.

You should give it a shot. I have...it's awful IMO. Awful premise, awful story, and awful everything. I tried...I just can't like it.
February 13, 201016 yr The premise of the fictional TV show 24 is that a lot of crazy things happen to the lead character in each episode to keep viewers watching and the ratings high. Is it really that hard to understand??? Wow you really took it personally, didn't you? You are really blowing my one little comment way out of proportion GT. Oh and to emphasize my sarcasm and condescending tone.. ???
February 14, 201016 yr PH and I LOVE the show!!! The silent clock....don't know. Unless, all of the things going on now is going to be "tame" and the clock sound will start back up again when the world is to be blown up or something not so "tame" LOL....Just a guess!!!! Halfback...Everyone has different tastes...I don't like (tried to watch and couldn't) Lost. But, you are talking about 24, how dare you LOL...Joking!!! Seriously, you have been the only person that I have heard to say they did not like it...I know there are many more, but you are the only one that I know. Each season, IMO, gets better and better....Oh, and the daughter, Kim, is she going to come back? I thought she would, but, she is a new person on the tv series "Forgotten"....maybe she will just show up from time to time???
February 14, 201016 yr Author Ahh...Gotcha. Thanks for the lesson! :thumb: Yeah, I don't watch 24 and figured the silent clock was in some way specific to that tv show. Are any of the first few seasons out on dvd yet? They're all out on DVD. You can get them at Wal-Mart or Target for $20 per season. Also, the 2-hour movie "Redemption" is available for $10. It takes place between Season 6 and 7.
February 14, 201016 yr Author Hey 5wide, since you're a fan of the show, do you remember this? Seems to me in the very first season, Keiffer did a quick voice-over at the beginning that went something like "My name is Jack Bauer, and THIS, is the longest day of my life." The reason why I bring it up, is that we're now onto, what, day 8? And I wonder if people had to rank which one would be the "longest" (ie: most difficult) for Jack, how many would still choose Day 1. (However, in the writers' defense, I think anybody that has their daughter kidnapped and wife killed, will certainly consider it one of their worst days ever.) I can't speak for Jack Bauer, but Season 1 was certainly the longest day for me. I thought it was easily the worst season to date. Don't get me wrong, I loved it just like every season, but the show got better. It keeps getting better. I think Seasons 4, 5, and 7 would be my favorites. I enjoy it when the show involves some White House level political intrigue and corruption in addition to the usual action. I suppose as the show became more popular, more money was put into it and it was easier to attract better actors. Random thought... I though Charles Logan was a great character. He was a great villain. I can still remember his comments in Day 4 after he'd cowered away and let David Palmer resolve the crisis. "You played a role David. You played a role." Said in the smug tone that only Charles Logan could deliver.

February 14, 201016 yr 24 > The Shield If you have watched some of both shows then that is your right to make that decision. However I feel like The Shield is far better and far more interesting.

Don't get me wrong, I loved it just like every season, but the show got better. It keeps getting better. I can see your point there. However, I think the way Season 1 ended, paved the way for what people expected the rest of the way. I mean, how many people truly expected Nina to be a mole? She was Jack's second in command for Pete's sake!! And then, for Jack's wife to survive everything else thrown her way earlier in the day, only to be killed by Nina at the end?!?!?! Now you look at every character and wonder if they've got an alterior motive. I think that alone, from Season 1, helped set the stage for everything that followed, in the sense that nothing is off limits, and everything is in the realm of possibility. Going in to Season 1, you really didn't know what to expect. People set the bar a whole lot higher for Season 2 (and every year afterwards) based upon how Season 1 ended. At least IMO.

I saw in Entertainment Weekly that Charles Logan will be back this season.
February 15, 201016 yr 24 > The Shield You're out of your mind. I watch and love both shows, but there is absolutely no comparison between the two. In fairness, a good amount of that is because of the sheer amount of episodes 24 has put on (192 compared to Shield's 88) and the style that forces 24 into a single day whereas The Shield has more flexibility. But I can't recall many times where I felt that The Shield was a chore to watch, that I was just trying to make it through the episode. 24 has become that way at times, and at times for entire stretches of the season. While The Shield had very few low moments, there are many dry moments in 24.

I'm assuming several reasons for Season 1 being the worst. First, it was a brand new show, so I'm confident they starting investing more money into the show after the initial success. Also, I'm sure all the people involved in creating the show got better. Season 1 was very slow compared to the rest. Not as many twists. The plot lines took longer to play out and resolve. But, I agree, it set the tone for the rest of the show. Trust no one. Anybody could be a villain. And, any character can die.
