Also if you look closely there is still a large portion of the Chinese population in the rural areas that live as if it was China 50 years ago.

 

I believe the commie leaders have let the cat out of the bag. They may be ruling with an iron fist now, but the Chinese people are beginning to see what life is like in democratic nations and they too will demand the same freedoms. And the next time around they will suceed. They may well have their own 'Velvet Revolution' as the Czechs did when they got rid of their commie leaders.

 

As far as only 10% knowing what socialism is, is how the Dems fool so many into voting for them. Many do not realize that someone has to pay for the government programs, not understanding that the taxes paid are rolled back into higher costs of products and services.

I would vastly prefer to reside in a "representative republic" in which things like "personal property rights" are valued and protected. Democracies, like socialist states, have proven to be too volatile to succeed. In fact, I know of no “true” democracy that has weathered the test of time.

Actually we were founded as a 'democratic republic' which means we elect leaders to make the decisions for us because a pure democracy would be unwieldy. I think the electoral college hurts our democracy in that the Executive should be the most democratically elected branch, but it fails in light of how the college works. The House is next, and the Senate is the least democratic and we see how well that works.

Many more, but by no means close to all, Democrats and liberals have a positive image of socialism compared to Republicans, moderates and conservatives.

No RTS didn't make that implication; just that a majority of Democrats/Democrat leaning people that responded to the poll and a majority of liberals that responded to the poll have a positive view of socialism. From the article:

Democrats in Ky are actually fairly conservative. They have a very hard time understanding that a Ky Democrat is much different from Democrats in other states and share views greatly different than their "national counterparts".

 

They poll does butress comments made on here that charge Democrats as having socialistic goals, although I doubt that is the case with many Ky Democrats.

 

As for the other posts questioning if the poll takers even knew what socialism is, you all may have a fair question. The average American isn't very informed on political matters and votes with emotion and not intellect or logic; heck, a lot of them voted for President Obama. Obama voters, don't get your panties in a bunch, as I said the average American. Not all of them. :banana:
