Division-1 Players

Featured Replies

I have seen seven of the players originally listed by 4chs and I will say that all seven have something that it takes to even be considered D-1. Size, with maybe the exception of Rico Neal but he will make up for that and then some with ability. My point is that, while we all think there are so many great ball players on our respective teams, only a very small percentage will even be considered by D-1 recruiters. I can't say whether all the players that finally get recruited and signed by D-1 schools actually seem to be true D-1 talent or not. It would be purely my opinion but I know that every year some of these players are offered and purely by size or speed or just potential someone sees. Do very capable players get totally overlooked? Yes. These schools all have there standards on the linemen they recruit and if you arent't 6'4" tall you get put in the back of the stack. Only a few LaDanian Tomlinsons, Antwan Randle Els, Sam Mills, etc. ever even get a chance to play let alone D-1

Enrique Shaw form Lafayette has already committed to Michigan State.

Eric Senn - Trinity- DB

Steve Orndorff-Trinity-WR

Donald Barnett-Trinity-RB

Blayne Donnell-Trinity- RB/DB

Graham Switzer - Trinity- DE

Craig Kircher-Trinity-TE

Tony Klausing-Trinity-DE

Orndorff is getting a look from UK, but his size (meaning weight) is in question.

Donald I believe could play D1-AA, but not sure, he'd have to get faster.

Donnell is a diamond in the rough. His size may hurt him, but he is a football player with great skills. He can play reciever, rb, corner, or safety.

Switzer is HUGE! But a torn ACL will keep teams away. If he decides to walk on he will be a little bit of a project, but at 6'4 280 and with good speed, team can afford to wait.

Kircher has the size and skill, but speed is also in question, could play at D1-AA, but would be a nice fit at a d-III or NAIA.

Klausing has all the heart in the world, but he doesn't have any great athletic ability, but i will say he is one heck of a high school football player.

Doesn't X have a big-time kicker? Is he a D1 kicker?

Think back just a couple of years. Do May and MCBroom bring back memories? McBroom was lacking in size but he sure could move, May was also a great RB but from what I understand got on at Butler or Valpo? I saw McBroom at Georgetown earlier this season, he did not play much but he looked every bit as good in pregame. Again I think pre-conceived standards really cost us all in not being able to SEE some of the talent go on to college.

In my thought with who I have seen go to some of the local D-1 schools both May and McBroom should easily have gotten a shot.

Tim Daugherty for St. X is the best kicker I seen this year and is D1 talent. He is talking to UL, UK, among others.

Sean O'Brien, kicker for Dunbar. He is the best kicker in the state.

I don't believe Tayshawn was eligible at GT this season. May is at Villanova.

Sort of related, I saw Thiry over the holidays (OT on those same teams) and he is starting at Northwestern. 6'7" 318#, he will probably get a shot at the next level (NFL).

Anyone considering Army? They could really use some good players. Plus you get to play for a coach who has won both the Super Bowl and the NCAA Championship.

How would ya find out more about Army if you be interested in them ?

Bobby Ross took SD to the Super Bowl and lost. He did win a shared National Title while at GT.

I do not know if he was eligible but he was dressed when G-Town played at Campbellsville this season. I assume that would make him eligible. Also, Is May getting any time at Villanova?

Time's running short for applying to USMA for 2006. Call your congressman or senator if you are interested. You'll need a nomination from one of them. Of course, getting recruited for the football team wouldn't hurt.
