Downey backed up his "Bring it on" challenge

Featured Replies

I don't know about the walks but Downey got several foul calls that I am still trying to find the contact on.

And there were two walks called on UK that absolutely were not walks. The one on Cousins underneath he never moved his pivot foot. And the one on Wall where he split the defenders on the other side of halfcourt was not a walk.

But no whining about the refs. They didn't lose this game UK did. A little too much mustard on several misplays including two of the missed layups. Lazy help defense. Poor rotation on defense. The lazy, incidental turnovers that happen every game mattered in this one.

I remember that play because I did not think he walked either until I saw the replay. He was not allowed to move his foot on that play because he got there on the jump stop. It is to my understanding once a player commits the jump stop there is no pivot foot, both feet have to stay stationary. Someone correct me if I am wrong on that call. I want to be sure that I have the rule right or did I just make it up in my head. :D

Good player but flops more than Vlade Divac.

The game was called pretty consistently on the contact(they allowed a lot)..........except in Downey's case. That's the way the ball bounces some times and teams often have to overcome such things on the road.

What is Downey's record against UK. I'm willing to bet it is among the best ever for an SEC player

I know he's won the last 3, but I would think the seniors from Florida's 2nd National Championship team hold that record.

I'd say Florida or Vandy. Something tells me Ross Neltner had great success against Kentucky (both at LSU & Vandy).

He took the kids to school.

Wall and Bledsoe can both learn a little from him!

Have Wall and Bledsoe take 29 shots each and see if they get 30 points.

Bernard King was 5-1 vs. UK from '75 to '77. :thumb:

I researched it a little bit and it seems that Downey has only won the last 3 games. I was thinking they beat UK once Crawfords senior year.

I forgot to mention the inability to make layups as a key factor. That Darnell Dodson miss should be on blooper videos.
