Mason County played as miserably as possible for the first 13 minutes at the HCA Fieldhouse. Down 19-6, throwing the ball away on every other possession. Setty hits the floor hard on a charging call; Royals forced to go with the small, quick lineup. Chipped away a bit just before halftime, then came out of the break with some intensity. Setty didn't come back until late in the 3rd quarter; most if not all of his points (to go along with 11 boards) came from then on. Great contribution from Ryne King off the bench.

 

I give Ashland credit; they hustle on every single play and Buddy Biggs plays 9 or 10 guys to stay fresh.

 

Mason County is simply not good enough to take 12 minutes off every game and not have a dogfight on their hands. However, the comeback showed heart.

Sounds like a great game. I saw both of the teams play in the AIT and it was a difference of 2 halves in that game. With Mason up by 17 at the half; Ashland came out on fire in the 3rd and was up one after 3 quarters. And mason pulled it out in the end. Some posters on here thought Mason got hommered in tht game. Quess it was not as bad as some thought.

A lot like the first game with one team struggling for the first half, but dominating the 3rd quarter. Mason only had six points through the first 12:30 of the game, but opened the second half on a 16-2 run.

 

Like mcpapa said, Setty missed a good chunk of this one. Didn't score until :15 to go in the third but ended up with 10 points and 11 boards.

I had a long reply typed out about that game and thought better of it. I'll just say as somebody who sees 50+ games a year, that one contained the worst officiated quarter I've ever seen.

When I seen this score and read a little about game, I thought the same thing. I heard from a lot of people who thought Mason got homered and still won as well. For the record I have seen neither team play all year, just going on comments on here and from various others who were at the game.

In the game at Ashland, Mason County's best three players went from one foul to four fouls in the third quarter alone. This quarter was after a half of basketball when there were only about five fouls called on Mason. The worst I have ever seen.
