Like I said the key was stopping Thelen and the big man seems to be to much of a matchup problem for the Tigers. Tough loss but I think this will be the 2vs3 seed matchup in the District.

It appears that Cov Cath had a bad shooting night, and still got the win.

Always nice when you dont play your best and still get the victory.

CovCath didn't win this game as much as Beechwood gave it away.

Beechwood is up 11 points 23/34 with 3:26 left in the third quarter. CovCath then turns the ball over and Bwood instead of working the ball around for a high percentage shot, they go for the kill, but Bwood misses the trey and CovCath goes on a 9/0 run and brings the score to 32/34 with 1:26 left in the quarter. Huge, huge, huge miss on that trey attempt and I think a huge mistake in going for that trey at the time.

The next play in the game that Beechwood tries to give CovCath the win, was after Wellbrock with the score tied 46/46 misses both free throw with 9.8 seconds left in the game and a Beechwood player gets the rebound and without throwing a single pass tries to take the ball up court. He is covered very well and gets off a very poor shot with 1.1 left on the clock. Game into overtime where Wellbrock makes two huge free throws for CovCath and the Colonels go on for the victory!

Trey Evans one of the CovCath starting guard didn't play due to illness! He was missed very, very much tonight. CovCath Brett Riedinger in that 9/0 run hit the only trey of the night for the Colonels.

Poor Jake Thelen! He gets hammered all night long inside the paint and no call is made but if he looks sideways at a player he gets a foul called on him! Jake gets called for four fouls but only gets to take five shots from the charity line all night long. For a player who has two and sometimes three players hanging on him, and yet he gets off 17 shots to go to the charity line 3/4 times is sad!

Wellbrock goes 2/6 from the charity line but hits both his free throw attempts in OT!

You knew in OT CovCath would win, as they played with heart and emotion and just wanted it more in OT.

After CCH missed two free throws with 9 sceonds to go in a tied game, Beechwood's desparation three "missed by that much". Overtime it was.

From under the basket, my perspective tonight, it appeared Beechwood just plain ran out of gas. Didn't seem like too many were subbed for them. CCH rolled players in and out on almost every possession.

I think one of the keys to victory for CovCath tonight, was the threat of practice right after the game if they lost and thus no date with the lovely ladies sitting in the front NDA row!:lol::lol:

NDA held their annual Silver Bells semi formal dance tonight!

Was one of the smallest Crazy crowds I have seen in years but although small in number, they were loud!

The Colonels found a way to win. They came out of the gate very flat and almost let the game get away from them. Great comeback in the 3rd quarter to bridge the gap. Cov. Cath kept whittling away at the Tigers in the 4th quarter and caught up near the end of regulation. As the Bishop Brossart internet broadcast team might say, "It will look like a swish in the scorebook", but this one wasn't pretty. Congratulations to Coach Schumate and the Tigers for a hard fought effort.

Well, I am out of the prediction business. I would like to apologize to the Beechwood Tigers for my lack of love as they came out tonight and wanted it from start to finish and outplayed CovCath for 2 1/2 quarters. Coach Shumate did a great job tonight, as even though I think CovCath has more talent than Beechwood, they did not play like it for way too long. I had said that I would wear a Holmes State Champion t-shirt at Holmes Tuesday if CovCath lost. My daughter Annie texed me during the 3rd quarter and said she hoped I liked red. Man was I regretting that bet. Finally CovCath played like they wanted it and from then on it was an exciting game. I've never seen a stat where a team got 27 offensive rebounds and only 10 second chance points but it happened tonight. Some big props to Max Pauly for being one of the players of the game scoring 0 points, but had 10 assists. Brett Riedenger proved he needs more playing time. Well I went to Barleycorns and had my crow anyway and quite frankly, it did not taste good. Beechwood is better than I thought.

Great effort by the Tigers on CCH's floor. The young Tigers are growing up fast and are going to keep getting better. Based on tonight's game, I think we would have to say there is a good chance the Tigers can make it to the regional two years in a row. They have to get that win over Holy Cross and then that should set the stage for a district showdown with the Colonels. Great game tonight.

Yes.

I'm moving to Vegas. I called this one right on the money -- Cov Cath by a touchdown!

Sounds like a heck of a game. I've not seen Beechwood yet. I know they had a great year last year and lost some key players, but have seemed to recover nicely.

I really like the Cov Cath team. size, speed and depth. They are very dangerous !
