Great effort by the Tigers on CCH's floor. The young Tigers are growing up fast and are going to keep getting better. Based on tonight's game, I think we would have to say there is a good chance the Tigers can make it to the regional two years in a row. They have to get that win over Holy Cross and then that should set the stage for a district showdown with the Colonels. Great game tonight.

 

Beechwood is a very good team but I wouldn't be betting my house on them going to the Region, if they play CovCath in the first round 35th tourney.

 

You are not going to see, as CovCathiRadio pointed out, a CovCath team get 27 offensive rebounds and only get 10 second chance points again in a game. Beechwood litterally had no answer to Thelen and while yes I agree Beechwood can and will shoot better so will CovCath. Bwood needs to find an answer to the big guy and I just don't see even Coach Shumate even as good of a coach as he is, coming up with that answer anytime soon!

Valid point, Beechwood did not seem to have an answer for Thelan, especially if you see the box score. And clearly have more depth. But are the days of CovCath blowing out Beechwood over? I remember the Colonels hanging 100 on the Tigers just a few years ago. I think if they can meet up again in the District we could be in for another barn burner. There was not a lot of respect for this Beechwood team coming into the game and I think they showed a lot of heart. Great district game!

I credit Michael Romes to bringing some swagger to the Beechwood Basketball program. Coach Shumate does a great job and gets a lot out of his players.

The Tigers really missed Kyle "Meat" Daniels. He gives the Tigers size and muscle to matchup with Thelen and Wellbrock. He could give them an answer in the rebounding question and leadership. I'm not saying he would shut down Thelen, but he would have been a better matchup.

Like I said the key was stopping Thelen and the big man seems to be to much of a matchup problem for the Tigers. Tough loss but I think this will be the 2vs3 seed matchup in the District.
