Construction is scheduled to start (pending Kroger's finalization of the building permit) on Monday, April 12th. I'm not sure what day they're going to close the store itself. Regardless, they've assigned the job a seven-month schedule, so I guess folks better get used to finding their groceries at Remke's - or Silverlake Kroger if they don't mind the drive. During construction, the liquor store and the pharmacy will temporarily be in the old Tuesday Morning location (one stop shopping for drugs and booze :p) and the new store should be open for business a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving this year.

Not looking forward to that mess! :irked:

I was told the weekend of March 27-28 will be the last days it will be opened.

We're moving along nicely. Schedule's looking fine...with or without the 2" of rain this past weekend.

I miss that Krogers sooooooo much!

I miss that Krogers sooooooo much!

I've heard that from pretty much EVERY member of my family. I think my mother will personally see to it that I'm written out of her will if I don't have the store done on time. Regardless...we're on track to be turning it over to Kroger for fixturing & stocking on Sept 29th, and they usually open them up within a month of that - so figuring the extents Kroger has gone to to fast-track our things on the construction end, I'd look to see them all moved in and having their grand opening some time in mid-October.

It ought to make a real pain out of the majority of Beechwoods football home games though...

Pizza Hut in general has the best pizza, but the service is HORRIBLE at about 70% of them!!!

I have called corporate on at least 4 pizza huts and earned $100's in free pizza for their lack of effort and common sense!

I miss that Krogers sooooooo much!

They are not wasting any time getting the new one up.

Good to know! I used to stop at that Krogers almost every day on the way home from work. Now I have to drive a little farther to go to Remkes. I always like Remkes but felt the need to be loyal to the Kroger Union workers, because my brother is one. However, I am getting quite used to that Remkes......

Just an update...I'm still on schedule. :D :D

I have been wondering.....will there be enough parking spaces? Looks like that building is taking up an awful lot of space and there will be gas pumps...

I was actually just discussing that this morning with the Expressway Plaza owner and the civil engineer. I'm not necessarily the guy to talk to when it comes to those kinds of "design" matters, but the civil was saying that, as a frame of reference, the Newport Kroger was built with an approximate ratio of 1 parking space per 4000 square feet of store space, and the Ft. Mitchell store is designed to a ratio of approximately 1 parking space per 3500 square feet of store space - so more parking proportionally. I personally shop at the Newport Kroger (I built that store too), and I can honestly say that that store is never any more crowded than Ft. Mitchell ever was when I was growing up...

I hope the new Fort Mitchell Kroger store has a better entrance and exit than currently exists today. We also noticed the parking area looks smaller with the gas station. Newport Kroger store also gets very congested on a weekend afternoon. Wait until the new Target store is built.
