He did pretty decent with everything except for play-calling and personnel decisions. Other than that, he was alright.

They won seven games with their best players injured, went on the road and beat Auburn and Georgia with a freshman quarterback leading the way. I think they did a lot better than many thought, given the circumstances. They aren't going to win National Championships, or even SEC Championships, seven games is a HUGE deal for UK football IMO. They are a third level SEC team, Florida, Alabama and LSU are the elite SEC teams, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Auburn, and Ole Miss are your second tier teams, and UK is down there with Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. It's a testament to Rich Brooks' coaching abilities to produce 7 wins, given the players they had available IMO.

I think at the begining of the season, if we would have guessed we would have won 7 games, and possibly could have won 10, then we would give Brooks a lifetime contract and ten coach of the year awards. But hindsight is 20/20, and it seems like we didn't do as well as we could have.

It happens, the fact that Kentucky was in every single game except for the Alabama and Florida game is a testament to his abilities. This is a bad team, it isn't as if they had USC or Oklahoma's talent and only won seven games. They were playing Mike Hartline for crying out loud!

I am guessing this statement is geared towards me. So please tell me where I said "this season" was a disappointment? I did say they had the opportunity to do even better considering the SEC as whole this year was a down, and we failed to do much with it besides the normal 3 SEC wins. This season was not a disappointment, but it was not also a great successful season. It was basically an average year, which we did get to benefit from Georgia and Auburn being down to our level, and getting to end the losing streaks to them at their places which was nice though. My problem with the program is I think at its current pace, we are not really going up. We basically have leveled out, and I don't see that changing much when the day Brooks retires and Joker steps in. I see much of the same, which I don't think has to be. However we obviously disagree on that matter. So no reason to really talk about all that again in this one. :thumb:

So yes 7 wins in a season is good for this program. However there was 5 games this year that we played just bad teams, so thats 5 wins we should have anyways. That means only would have had 2 win two more games to get to that 7 win season. So its not like getting to 7 wins was that hard this year for them. They had 5 other games that they basically this season were at the same level as, and they went 2 and 3 in those games. Then obviously 0 and 2 against the two great teams they played. My point lets not act like we really overachieved this year. There was 5 real bad teams we played this year, and 5 teams at our level. So seeing how this season played out, its not like this team overachieved. This team basically stayed at the same level they have been at the last few years. No better, no worst.

It's basically at anyone who wants to complain or act like the coaches didn't do a good job this season. UK had a winning season in the SEC, playing with a team that has the talent level of a MAC team (outside of Lindley and Cobb) IMO.

 

But, this issue has been much debated and no reason to take it further as you said. :thumb:

Sure the wins came against bad teams.....but UK is also a bad team. I don't think many SEC coaches sit up all night and say "Man, how can we beat UK?"

 

At our level? Tennessee, UGA, Auburn are not at UK's level. Maybe they didn't have their best teams this season, but they are actually legit teams that have done something this decade and IMO have alot more talent to work with than UK.

 

I'll give you SC and MSU, neither of which are anything to brag about, but SC has a better and more experienced QB, and MSU is just better. Had they not have played probably the toughest schedule in the country, they are bowling as well IMO.
