Raiders 27 Steelers 24

Featured Replies

This is stupid to post but after being traumatized by another comeback loss I have done some checking and if and trust me that is a "if" the size of the state of Pennsylvania the Steelers win out. Say Denver has the first wildcard and we are playing for the six seed. Jacksonville has Miami, Indy and New England left so they could lose a couple of those and the Ravens lose another one we could slide into the six seed. There is still a fourth of the season left.

Now to be negative again......can we win another game?

It's like a repeat of the last time, only more painful, because we've lost so many games. At least the last time around we weren't teased so much.

Oops, I meant "because we've lost so many close games."

Don't know, but if so, he should have said crap instead of Hell...:irked:

Jim have you paid a visit to sf lately? I refuse to go because of all the negative crap that is probably being said. It's bad when we are winning, so I'm sure it is unbearable right now... :deadhorse:

Nope, the thought of going there is too depressing. No sense crying over spilled milk.

What's that? Ah -- Playoffs? Don't talk about -- playoffs? You kidding me? Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game! Another game.

At this point, I have little to be optimistic about.

While I agree that they are done (or at least it seems so), you'd best hope that they don't end up in PBS again this season. I'd guess that the Bengals would prefer seeing someone other than a division team in the playoffs.

And although unlikely, I'll put a little carrot alongside this post to be sure to revisit it in the event you have some crow on your menu.

And I speak from experience.:irked:

The Steelers are giving up 4th quarter leads. This is so unusual to see. I still am in shock that in 4 or 5 of their losses, they had the lead in the 4th quarter and blew it. Against the Raiders, they drive down and get what you believe is the winning score. Unbelievable.

Go back and read post #22. Some of us Bengal fans definitely have learned our lesson from 2005. :thumb:

I mean yeah Pittsburgh has lost 4 in a row, but they are only one game back. So its not like they are out of it, they are a good enough team where they could still very well win out during the regular season. Which if they do I think they make it unfortunately. The Steelers vs. Ravens game basically will be a playoff game because the loser definitely will be knocked out, while I think the winner of the game will make it. If one of them make it though, I rather it be the Ravens. I know I would rather not see the Steelers again, even though I do think the Bengals could beat them for a third time.

Les, your life is on hold on line #5.

I read it. I agree with you. I mean, who'd want a division opponent again in the playoffs?

The Steelers have been hit with some key injuries...starting DE and Polamalu in and out of the lineup for much of the season. Those are big losses for a team that relies on its defense.

Very true, but it's not like no one else is suffering from key injuries. I mean, the Bengals have been without their starting DE and Safety for much of the season, and are now without their starting DT for who knows how long...

I still fully expect the Steelers to win out and get the #6 seed in the playoffs.

You are correct. But, I think we also should consider that the difference between an 11 or 12 win team and a non-playoff team that hovers around .500 is often not that wide. The Steelers were 6-2 in games decided by a TD or less in 2008. In 2009, they're 1-6 in games decided by that same margin.

In 2008, they were relatively healthy, they won the close games, and they played well when it mattered most.

If the Steelers win out, they're going to have to make a drastic turnaround. They're certainly capable, but I'd be surprised if they did. Fortunately, their two toughest remaining games are at home, so that gives them a shot.

You left out the guy whos injury probably hurts this team more than any other has. That is Chris Henry, that injury has made an impact on this team more than any other injury has. Its probably not coincidence that the passing game has struggled since he went out, especially the red zone offense. We went from being the best in the league when he was not hurt, till now not being able to score touchdowns when we get down there. Hopefully they fix that problem here soon though.
