Coach Reitz couldn't do it his entire tenure while at cc, including with the 06 bunch which was definitely stronger than last year's team.

Campbell County doesn't even own their own district, let alone the 10th. Kind of sad for a school their size.

Other than Boone County, only Simon Kenton has had a 20 win season. The camels have only had two losing seasons in the past six. They still have some good players but the overall talent level is not what it has been the past couple of years.

If size of the school doesn't statistically matter as you infer, why do we care about whether a school is a 6A school or a 1A school?

 

I agree that the talent pool is the main thing but when it comes right down to it, doesn't a larger school have a larger population to draw from and to develop?

I don't disagree with your comments. Most would think that being a larger school can be an advantage in regards to success. However, this has not been the case overall in Northern KY in regards to wins and losses in basketball. Again, Boone County is the only 6A school with a winning record over the past six years. I could be wrong but I think Campbell County was the last 6A school in Northern KY to make a state tournament appearance and that was in 2001. That may change this year as Boone and Ryle will compete for the spot in the very tough 9th region.

Disagree! Code first has definately toughened the schedule from Reitz's "All A" version, which will only make CC better in the long run. Can't answer why CC seems to have a "coaching merry-go-round" in several sports, but that can't help their program's progress.

 

The region has run through Mason & Clark for the last several years, as they've had outstanding overall talent with a several D-1 kids included. PC, Scott and Brossart have had much of their best recent talent come along in the same timeframe, so the road to Rupp (or even out of the district) has been challenging recently to say the very least?? I thought CC's best recent chance was the 2006 "Dream Team", but in the end they didn't get it done (style of play might have had something to do with that)?

 

Give Code a chance--Let him get some kids that buy into playing disciplined basketball, and the results will follow. You don't have to travel very far to find Coach Code's picture on a Championship banner; or just ask to see his ring!! :thumb:

I believe he was referencing schools in the 9th and 10th in NKY.

I am only going by the season records the KHSAA has posted on their website since 2003-04 (six years). From those records, SK is 81-94. If you go back 7 years they improve to 103-102. I also think they will improve on that this year. Historically, over the past 15-20 years (probably even longer that that), SK has been one of the best programs in the area. Until last year, they were the only 9th region team to win a state tournament (they are currently a member of the 8th). They have a history and tradition of winning but I feel the post is accurate per what the KHSAA has posted on their website.

I am sure that this will stir some good conversation, but here we go. You ask why Campbell has not had success over the past few/many years, well lets go back a few. The decline with Campbell basketball seemed to have happened when they decided to let Coach Sullivan go. Many will disagree with this, but Coach Sullivan did something that had not been done for a very long time, A trip to RUPP. He had the feeder systems in place that kept everyone very interested in the program, he was also a very visible person a many youth games and spoke with the parents. I think that Brossart and NCC both will agree that he may have been too visible at some of the Catholic grade school games, but he DID GET RESULTS!!

 

Now for the first time in the years since Coach Sullivan has left you have a coach that wants to instill disclipline, hard work ethic and cares about his teams very much and things are just not good enough?? Scott Code is a very good coach that has a tremendous love for the game and his players and understands that the season is not a sprint. If the players continue to buy into his system, stop listening to what is being said around the dinner table, and the administration lets this man do his job the results with happen and all will be happy with the results. If my memory is correct this is the start of his 3rd season, so hopefully all of the hard work over the past couple years will start to show and the results will come, but lets give this guy some time!! This is a district that I would say has the best coaching talent in the 10th region. 2 Codes and 1 Carr = 1 tough district.

 

Mike Code and Coach Carr are proof that if you buy into a system results will happen and I can assure both of those coaches can attest to that.

 

Let Coach Code do his job, support him if a Camel fan and if the results do not happen then at the end of the season take a look back and see how all turned out. Because, I can assure that is what all good coaches do and if the season does not turn out as one of success, than that coach will be a much harder critic on himself than any "so called supporters would be". You at Campbell have a very good coach let him do what he is there to do and support him!!

Not quality criticism, but badgering and almost annoying criticism with no real knowlege of the sport. With Campbell County's situation, I personally have heard complaints from many fans, no matter who the coach is. There is almost no support. There is no point in complaining because fans can't do anything to change the coaching situation. All badgering and complaining does is put even more pressure on the coach. Support your coach whether you agree with him or not. If after a couple years of support there are still no positive results, then you can complain.

 

I personally have played under Scott Code. He has tremendous knowlege about basketball and he truely cares about his players. He will do whatever it takes to win. So Campbell, give him some support rather than bad judgement. With time, success will come (just hopefully not against Brossart ).

Let's compare the Campbell County Basketball Program to the Bishop Brossart Basketball Program. If you look at the last 12 years, BB is 239-122 compared to CC who is at 163-169. Head to head, BB has 10 wins and CC has 11 wins. 5 out of the last 12 years were losing seasons at CC while BB has had no losing seasons. Be prepared for similar results for the next 12 years and this is why...

 

First, Mike Code is very involved in the Bishop Brossart Basketball Program from kids at a young age all the way up through high school. He is doing some of the same things that made Dan Sullivan successful at CC. He is working with the feeder schools to develop a solid program and he is surrounding himself with the right people to make this happen. He will continue to get results. Scott Code does not support the Campbell County Youth Basketball League. If he did, he would have a system in place that focuses on the fundamentals of the game at an earlier age so that once these boys are in middle school, they understand how to dribble, shoot, pass and play defense. You cannot do this with dads who are only coaching because they want to make sure their son is playing the position he wants to play. Grow the program, get involved. It's that easy...
