November 30, 200916 yr Author Is there a particular quote that you're referring to, Clyde? http://cnati.com/cincinnati-bengals/benson-not-looking-to-share-00783/
November 30, 200916 yr How about we WIN MORE GAMES. Stop worrying about yourself. Stay healthy and be productive and you won't have to worry about a thing. A true team player would say, good they got another guy that can help if I get hurt or are unproductive one day. Be a team guy Cedric.
November 30, 200916 yr As much as Cincy runs the ball, there's enough carries to go around. They proved that yesterday. 22 carries for LJ and 18 for Scott. The Bengals average 32.9 rushing attempts per game, good for third in the league. There's no reason Benson can't get 18-25 touches, with LJ and Scott getting the rest. It would be stupid, IMO, to run Benson to death down the stretch when you have two talented backs standing on the sideline. I wouldn't go to a 50/50 time share, but I would give LJ some carries, and I'd also try to get Scott a few touches. When you have a guy with the big play ability of Bernard Scott, I think you should at least give him a few touches every week. Nice problem to have.
November 30, 200916 yr Author CP says #32 is still the man and LJ knew that coming in. I'm sure Marvin will not say much about it today.
November 30, 200916 yr CP says #32 is still the man and LJ knew that coming in. I'm sure Marvin will not say much about it today. It's an interesting situation, particularly since every RB has had great success. Benson is having a career year and I'm sure he'd like to continue to do so. Even though he's missed 2 games, he's still near the top in a lot of the statistical categories. I think you still give Benson 20 - 25 carries per game. I think the guy who is really hurt by this is Leonard. I know he's the so-called "3rd down back", but I think he's going to get the short end of the stick. Say what you want about LJ's signing not affecting the other running backs, but even a blind man could see how effective LJ was on Sunday.

November 30, 200916 yr Having Benson healthy for the playoffs would be a HUGE plus for the Bengals. That's what Marvin wants and I can't blame him. LJ has been a very solid pickup.
November 30, 200916 yr So who do you all think that the Bengals won't activate on game days when Benson is healthy enough to play? I think they have to dress Johnson, and I don't see them dressing 5 running backs. You will have Benson, Larry Johnson, Scott, Jeremy Johnson, and Leonard. I don't see them dressing them all, so I think Leonard might be the one left out, and Scott being that third down back for now on. Unless they want to not dress Jeremy Johnson, but he does a very good job lead blocking. It will be interesting what they do.
November 30, 200916 yr I think Scott will be odd man out. 5 or less carries and back full time KO return duties. Had he been in instead of Caldwell the Oak game things may have turned out differently. As for Ced and LJ, they will share the load with the luxury of going with the hot hand. If you would have told me a couple of years ago that the Bengals had both Benson and LJ in the backfield, my jaw would have hit the floor. Also they will have to throw against the likes of Minn and SD to have a chance of winning.

He's had a very good past 2 weeks running the ball and was huge 3 weeks ago against Pitt in the return game. He brings something to the table that the other 3 do not have. He has the speed to get to the outside. How does Scott catch the ball? I like Leonard a lot, but I don't see a spot for him unless he's going to play some FB too.
