I heard that L-ville Western was very athletic. How many running teams has LO faced this season?

Good question! Quite a few in fact. Green Co., LexCath, Allen County and Franklin-Simpson were all advertised as strong running teams, which in fact they were. I think Russell Co and Graves Co. had some good rushing stats throughout their seasons. LO's defense performed well against the run in these games. It is also fair to say that LO has good athletes at their skill positions as well as some strong line play on both sides of the ball.

Marion played a very tough schedule that has them very prepared. I haven't seen Lone Oak play but I have seen Marion play. Marion is an excellent tackling team with a lot of speed on defense. I don't know who will win but there is no way Lone Oak hangs 40 points on Marion I think it will be much closer.

I'm not convinced Marion's schedule is any tougher than LO's. Massey and MaxPreps rate LO's schedule a bit tougher. I hear every week that LO's next opponent will be the "toughest" they've faced. What makes Marion stand apart from LexCath, ACS and Franklin-Simpson? I'm not saying Marion isn't better, but what supports the claims that the Knights are the best combination of size and power the Flash have faced? I'm certain that Marion is a great team and can beat LO, but what specifically makes them special?

I think this year’s Lone Oak team is much more rounded then the air show of 2007 and overall a better team. They seem to be playing very well on both sides of the ball and should make it to BG. Lone Oak wins by a couple of TDs.

Marion has outstanding offensive and defensive lineman, but here is the problem: Marion cannot really throw the ball very well. North Bullitt had the right idea earlier this year by putting 9-10 in the box and Marion got away with it because North Bullitt was not a great team. However, I'd bet the LO coaching staff is watching that film. Marion is a great team, I'd love to see them win, but I think their flag has been run up the pole as far as it will go. Lone Oak wins this one.

Marion Co played Bell Co to within 5 this year, correct? So, if Lone Oak wins by 2 or 3 TDs, would that make them better than Bell? I'm sure the majority are going to say no, and base there opinions on 1)tradition, 2) computer polls, 3)opinion polls, 4)the fact that Bell won it all last year and 5) because of the result of the 07 championship game. I'd like to know how many computers saw them both play & how many doing the rankings have seen both play? I'd also like to know if bringing last years trophy to the game will make a difference or the 2 or 3 kids who actually played more than a snap or 2 in 07, if that would make a difference. Or, would any of those Bell guys from the 80's and 90's secretely dressing out?

 

Okay, I know. I'm being sarcastic, but, on a serious side, I just don't see the gap that people are trying to make it out to be. Obviously there's not too big a gap with Bell and Marion since that game was close and since Lone Oak is favored over Marion, you'd have to think they're pretty much on an even scale, wouldn't you? What am I missing here?

We here in Lone Oak have heard this statement 3 or 4 times this season and every time this team rises up above our presumed level of play and win one that we are outmatched physically and somehow win....I think its time that this program gets some recognition of being one of the most innovative, physical, hard nosed, well coached teams in 4A if not the state.......JMO:ylsuper::thumb::thumb::thumb:

If Marion Co cannot throw the ball then they are going to have trouble scoring. Lone Oak will be in trouble if they face a team that can throw the ball effectively. I'll say LO by 2 tds.

I would just like to add that after their 2nd lost I heard that Marion Co made some personnel changes at running back and quarter back and haven't lost since. So its my understanding that Marion is a completely different and better team since they played Bell and lost by 5. Anyone on here that can answer that from Marion Co
