November 19, 200916 yr Author Absolutely he was released. It happened in September. http://www.packers.com/news/releases/2009/09/05/2/ http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/2921/packers-cutdown-analysis-2 http://www.straitpinkie.com/sports/brian-brohm-released-by-packers/ The Packers matched the Bills' offer sheet because they didn't want their 2nd round pick from a year ago just walking away without at least an opportunity to stay in GB. While he was released before, he was signed to the practice squad. I agree that this is a good opportunity for him to get another shot and sometimes a change of scenery can do just that.
November 19, 200916 yr Glad for Brian, GB wasn't a good fit reminds me when Brett left the Falcons and went to GB. Brian played well in the late preseason. I was hoping the Raiders would look at him. Russell is already benched.

Russell is already benched. Really? Didn't the Falcons trade Favre for a 1st round pick after his 1st season (in which he didn't play much)? While I'd prefer to play in Oakland over Buffalo, I think Buffalo was a much better choice for Brohm. San Francisco or Miami would have also been very good choices, IMO.
November 19, 200916 yr At least he'll get an opportunity to play now How does this mean he will get an opportunity to play now? He couldn't even beat out someone who was a 6th round pick behind him. I mean I hope he does get to play eventually, however I see no reason as of now why we would think he will end up playing even with as bad as the Bills QB's are.
November 19, 200916 yr I think a new start is great for him.. actually was hoping he could catch on with Cincy as a #3. And get rid of Carson's little brother. You know that you have to keep your QB happy...

I am a homer so you can take what I write with a grain of salt. Brian played miserably last pre-season and rightfully was placed 3rd on the depth chart. This year, Flynn got hurt, and the Packers felt that it wasn't in their best interest to drop Flynn without the full evaluation of both players. I think Brian would've been the #2 in GB next season, but now this gives him the opportunity to be a #1 next year....I love that.

He has a long way to go to be a #1, but he does have a better chance at Buffalo.

Well I do agree that him being in Buffalo gives him a better chance of possibly playing one day. However I was just going by that post, it sounded like he thought Brohm would be definitely playing since the QB's that are there are so bad. Brohm really hasn't shown much of anything to believe that he will ever really see the field as a starter. Hopefully he has learned a lot these past two years on the practice squad and started to adjust to the NFL now, because I know I would love to see him do well and play. :thumb:
