^I'm sure they were somewhat deflated and in shock about what had just happened. I know I sure was watching it.

I saw that segment they have with Bruschi, and yeah I know if I was a defensive player I would have been mad about it. However I also would be mad at how easily we let the Colts get that touchdown. I mean they didn't even come close to stopping them, or coming up with a play. I mean maybe that is why he went for it, because he also saw that the Colts figured out the defense. I do remember the last thing that Bruschi did say in that interview was that even though he would have been disappointed at that time. That they would have moved on and better over it quickly, because they have total faith in their coach.

My question is how is it the wrong decision if they get it and win the game? By punting the ball, they still very well might have lost that game. The Colts had finally figured that defense out. That decision and possibly getting it, could have been there best chance of winning that game in that situation. Its their own fault for even getting to that point after having a 17 point lead in the 4th. However I don't know how we could say it would still have been the wrong decision if they did get it and still won the game. A lot of people probably would be saying today wow that was gutsy but smart, because it kept Manning from having a chance to win the game because 2 minutes is a ton of time for him.

Dont get me wrong, I am not saying I would have went for it. I am just saying I understand why he went for it, and it would have been a smart choice if they got it. I am sure a lot of coaches have thought about going for it in those situations, but just most usually wouldn't have the guts to go for it there, I know I don't think I could. Just because everyone knows they would look like an idiot if they don't get it. He had the guts to go for it though, and if it worked then they probably hold on to the win, but if they punt then they very easily could have still lost.

Really too bad. I was rooting for NE.

I had no problem with the decision. I liked the decision. The defense was tired and Manning had just driven 79 yards in 6 plays in about 1:30...I thought Faulk got a bad spot. Had they given him forward progress at the point that he secured the ball, it would have been very close.

 

Here are my complaints from NE's perspective...

 

1. The wasted TO before they even ran a play on their next to last possession.

 

2. If they knew they were going for it on 4th down, I'd have preferred a different play call on third down...perhaps a run to take a shot on getting the first and forcing Indy to burn its last TO.

 

But, the wasted TO was the biggest mistake, IMO. Had they saved it, they'd have been able to challenge the spot on Faulk's reception. When he caught the ball he was right at the line, so the measurement would have been close.

 

Exciting game. Obviously people will question Belichick and the decision to go on 4th down because nobody does it. But, if I have Brady and his weapons, I'd like my chances to get two yards to win a game against anyone...and considering who they'd have been kicking the ball back to in this situation, I think he made the right call. It just didn't work out this time.

 

The Patriots have the look of one of those teams that play pretty good early, continue to improve all season and hit their stride when it matters most. I really think they'll be the best team in the AFC come playoff time.

Marvin got a win but he had two questionable calls that IMO were worse than this. He should have called one of his 3 TO's in the first half when Pitt had 2nd and 20 from the 20 and a half. He also should have tried getting the 1st down before the 2 minute warning when a 1st down would have won the game. So he looks good, but a coach that is far supereior to him made the dumbest call ever? I don't get that at all.

Why is it hard for people to understand he thought the best way for his team to win that game was to try gaining 2 yards rather than stopping Manning from going between 60-70 yards? He's playing chess while the rest of the NFL coaches are playing checkers.

Have you heard Ron Jaworski? He said it wasn't the wrong call. Football guys all think the same. He went w/ the data saying he had a better chance to win. I'd love him to be my coach if I were a player. I'm not saying it wasn't questionable I'm saying it wasn't dumb. What does he care what talking heads say? He's one of the best decision makers of all time. He might be smarter than all of them and he probably is.

I think they were very questionable. Just b/c his team won doesn't mean they weren't.
