November 13, 200916 yr I know we will have a lot of apologists on here that will bash the commissioner for his decision, but there are simply some things you cannot joke around about. Especially with recent scrutiny of referees in MLB, College Footnall, and the Tim Donaghy scandal. I know it was all in fun and meant in jest, but Chad, imo, crossed the line with this one.

November 13, 200916 yr Crossed the line? Guys it was a dollar. ONE dollar. C'mon. Would your opinion be different if it was a Ten or a Twenty?
November 13, 200916 yr Crossed the line? Guys it was a dollar. ONE dollar. C'mon. I could care less about how much money it was. To a lot of people out there, people believe referees are paid off to make certain calls. It was the symbolism of the moment that crossed the line.

It was the symbolism of the moment that crossed the line. I just think it was a stunt that was meant to be funny. I think people are reading too much into it. It got laughs and the more we talk about it the more we play into what he wanted, he wants people to pay attention to him. Mission accomplished. I don't think he crossed any major lines.

It was the symbolism of the moment that crossed the line. I understand your point but I don't think Chad does. Infact I think there are a lot of things he doesn't understand but he is coughing up some dough for his antics. It was a buck which he brought on the field to be stupid... yeah it wasn't necessary. At least all of the money will go to charities...
November 13, 200916 yr Would your opinion be different if it was a Ten or a Twenty? A 100 dollar bill maybe. If I'm not mistaken Chad never got close to the ref with the money right?

No, I do not believe anyone is reading too much in to it. You are correct, it was a stunt that was meant to be funny... and it was. I chuckled. And the referee or anyone out there obviously was not going to take him or his dollar seriously; but joking about violating the integrity of the game crosses the line. There is just some things you cannot do.
November 13, 200916 yr A 100 dollar bill maybe. If I'm not mistaken Chad never got close to the ref with the money right? He was right behind the referee. I do not think the ref saw him.
